noob (well kinda) in DFW
Hello all,
I purchased my FD a few months ago, and forgot to post here. First of all, many, MANY thanks to this board to helping me while I was in the market. The search function + all of your input was priceless.
Found a black R2 with about 58k miles...original owner - an older lady whose husband was Eddie Baumann, who appears to have been a top fuel racer until about 10 years ago. She wanted an Rx7 because her husband drove something fast too.
One look at the car's condition and I knew it was going home with me. The PPI showed a couple of small age-related things and a small oil leak (nothing major).
After getting it home, I took it to RP, and found out the oil leak was coming from the oil pan, which meant dropping the tranny or motor. I figured while I was paying for the drop, I might was well refresh the engine, and throw some reliability mods (Koyo radiator, RP downpipe, aftermarket AST, etc.)
After the refresh, I found out that in order for my wife to be willing to ride in the car with me, I was going to need a more ride-friendly suspension. One set of BC Coils later (thanks Pettit Racing), an install and alignment (thanks Texas Track Works), and addition of CCW wheels (thanks CCW) and Feed style side skirts (thanks Shine Auto Project), and I've got the RX7 I've always wanted. Bone stock, reliable, quick enough, and looking the way I want it. Love the car...the only mod if I can find it would be to boost the A/C output for TX heat.
Sorry for the low-quality pics, hopefully this will do for the intro. Gives a little taste of what it looked like stock, and *close* to what it looks like now. I'll get some better ones posted later. Thanks again for the available info during my search, and I'm looking forward to getting connected. Have a great July 4!

I'll get some more up later. Myster, the wife does ride in the car now
- the bc coils are very comfy (12/10kg springs, shocks set to around middle...can't remember value).
