CA Newbie looking to get into the rx7 world.Ls1 swap.

Hey guys, after hearing all these good things about the FDs i decided to actually look into them, and was really pleased with the reviews, looks, and price. I currently own a modified 1989 toyota supra turbo tagra top. I love the car to death but its just missing that WOW factor, and breaks a bit much. I had plans to get a mk4 supra but because of there cost they are out of my reach at my moment, but I will definitely own one eventually.

I'm looking into a FD roller for under hopefully 5k(ill be waiting a while). The rotary engine will be taken out(if not already out) asap. And in place will most likely go a ls1. I have quite a few issues with the rotary and really don't want to start a flame thread so lets just not even start please. The ls1 seems to be a good candidate as the power/torque are insane and the weight is perfect, not to mention the price isnt bad at all for the price(remember i own a supra).

What you guys could help me with is leading me towards some good threads or sites for my eventual endeavor. Thanks for the help!

Welcome welcome! Good luck with your future project. A good site would be here: http://www.norotors.com

Welcome to the forum, my friend just got the ls swap and man, is his car fast. If you were in texas, I could show you a shop that can do the swap real well.

I think it would be a good swap, but would think its going to run you around 12-15k once everything is done, and if you can get it done that cheap. I plan to keep the rotary for awhile and then eventually swap to ls3, but you should go to the norotors forum and get all the ls1 swap info.

Also never count the rotary out, I think it gets most of its bad rep from incompetent owners that don't research the car before they go out and rag on it. Then ofc stuff happens, but I think if you went water injection on the rotary, some guys seem to be running them pretty reliably.

Why do so many people put pistons in rx7s?

You have a supra , why not put a 2jz instead of a v8.

Personally I'd keep the 13b-rew its lighter, has turbo , and is a much more unique engine.

Learn it, love it.
