Hi all, my name is Steven and I've been working around a rotary engine for all of two months.
I stumbled upon the wonderful world of Wankel entirely by chance. I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at CSUN, and was in the market for a more commuter-friendly car to make the daily trip from Ventura county easier on the wallet. Not a difficult task when my other car is a 1970 Chevelle Malibu. I called on an ad for a 1985 RX-7, and immediately fell in love with the sporty stickshift, the exotic-looking machinery under the hood, and the double-digit MPG's; the car was mine for a steal (probably due to the 100k on the odometer, but I'm not worried).
After hours of internet searching, much reading, and purchasing a hard copy of the original FSM, I've become fairly confident around the stock 12A motor, replaced ignition components, locked down a peculiar timing issue, and restored function to frozen wiper linkage. Nothing serious yet, although I can't seem to pin down the source of an incessant rattling coming from the front passenger's side (sounds like rotational metal-to-metal rubbing).
I've visited this forum numerous times since purchasing my RX-7, and I always find useful, accurate information and insight from users. I look forward to providing insight of my own, many years of proud ownership with my RX-7, and of course 7STOCK this Saturday. woo!
