New Rx7 Build
Hello,
My name is Tim. I am in Australia. i have been on and off this site for years in contemplation of an Rx7 Purchase and always ended up with something else. This time I after much consideration I have ended up with an Rx7 (alternative to a 911 or R35 gtr) as I love to tinker and see this a project rather than sometthing to buy and look at. My goal is to get to the local track and sort the car out over the next year or so and go to do Targa Tasmania (a road rally race over a week or so) which has been a goal of mine for around 25 years. With that in mind I have been reading up on all the great posts here, which I have done many years ago as well (but forgot everything). I am looking forward to getting started although the car still hasn't arrived from Japan. I have already bought some wheels to to get 255s and 295s onto it. If the rules permit ( still no answer) I will be going with a EFR 8374 Turblown kit. Susepension is really confusing me as it seems many are going for 8 and 6 kg springs but when I look at Ohlins they are much higher. When I look at the Feed Rx7 doing the famous GUNSAI time trail over similar roads to what I will be driving on, they are running 22kg rear 20kg front! and its so smooth compared to many in the competions. I have read many threads on suspension but I am propbably going to start there as I really don't understand how that works and would love someone to explain it particularly where alot of these sets in japan seem to have higher rear rates compensated but different damping rates. Anyway I will add info as I go along and hopefully anyone interested will chime in with advice. Much appreciated.
