New to the forum...88 N/A FC from Miami, FL.
Hey guys, my name is Alex and I got myself a 1988 Mazda RX7 S4 about a month ago. Since then she's been under the knife with restoration work. I traded a 2003 VW Passat with 38,xxx on the clock which was sitting in my lot for months. Car needed a whole lot of TLC but I know the difficulty European cars let alone VW's are. Enough about that, let's get into the details of the RX7. Like stated its a 1988 S4. Engine had 152,330 on it. I dont know much about rotary engines but I'm doing my homework on it. I decided to drive it home when the trade was established. Realized on the way back the car needed a lot of work. Wheel bearings were shot. Rear suspension is shot. Tires are dry rotted (DOT stamp says tire year is 04). Control arm bushings are shot. Interior was dusty and sun baked.
Let's move on to the good: A/C works...was converted to R134 but it can be colder. Engine idles smoothly. Absolutely no rust. Clean title. Most electronics work.
I did pick up a Haynes manual as well as a workshop manual to do plenty of reading. Will be posting pics soon. I am on a cell phone. Looking forward to learning from everyone as well as make new friends.
