New to the Board
Hey guys, my name is Steve and I'm looking into purchasing an FD. I've been working on cars for over 10 years and currently drive an '05 Subaru WRX and a '94 Mustang GT. I also spend my spare time tearing up the corners on my '01 Honda CBR F4i. i figure its time to sell the Stang and get a real sports car!

Like the original poster, I am new to this board. I have owned three RX-7s (two FBs and an FC). I am currently on my fourth Mazda Rotary car (2004 RX-8); but have kicked the idea of also getting an FB once again, especially a GSL-SE, if I can find one that isn't in too rough shape.
My first FB was a very rough beater 1979 that had been brutally abused. I paid $500 for her and got a wonderful 2.5 years out of her before compression went. Unfortunately, at that time I didn't know that it was possible that the apex seals might have just stuck, so I kick myself for not having done a more thorough analysis before having her hauled off.
My second FB was a pristine 1983 that I adored until some vile thieves stole her. What I got back would have cost more than her book value to fix, and I didn't have three grand handy to replace the parts that were stripped from her. On the other hand, I know the thieves were frustrated when they tried to get the stereo out. I had a locking cover attached to the stereo's nose and they drove a chisel through the nose of stereo in order to get the cover off. It was still in the car when the police showed me the remains.
My FC was a 1991 that saved my bacon when I got sandwiched between a minivan that ran a stop sign and VW Golf doing 50 in a 25 zone. The compact design of the 13B gave the car a huge amount of crush space that I credit to my minimal injuries in that crash.
