New addict^H^H^H^H^H^H FD owner
Allo' All,
Since I was 16 I've loved the 3rd gens. Sometimes going to the library just to pass the mazda dealership to catch another glimpse of the silver FD they prominently displayed.
Back in November I finally got my dream car - a red 1993 FD with 48k on the orig engine.. well almost my dream. It wasn't silver, wasn't a manual, and no spoiler, but hey that leaves room to feed the addiction ; )
Lots of reliability mods came with it:
-hollowed out precat
-aftermarket coolant air separator
-grounding kit
-boost guage
-intercooler ducting
-cold air baffle
and in the non reliability mod category a blueprinted petit ccv.
Ever since I took ownership, the oil has been changed with castrol 20-50, .5 oz/gal redline premix was added, and the tranny oil was replaced with Synth. Amalie oil. Never heard of that oil before brand but it was recommended by circle D here in Houston - they specialize in trailblazer SS auto trannies (and a very knowledgeable coworker suggested them). so I figure it's good enough for the FD.
On the stuff to do list:
-fix the turbo lag. There is an insane amount of lag when the car is hot (slightly less when cold) when trying to take off quickly. As in my ex-saturn could have kicked my FDs *** for the 1st 3 maybe 4 seconds. Maybe a vacuum system rebuilt / turbo rebuild will fix this? Any opinion on the petit blueprinted rebuilt turbo? 2 grand seems really pricey for a slightly improved stock turbo unit : / I'll repose this question in the newbie tech section.
-the read end clicks and pops, so something is wrong with the rear suspension.
-oil leaks
-aviation grade omp
-Fix the super rich exhaust + water/meth injection to further increase reliability when running leaner.
-new stock rims. The orig owner chewed them up parallel parking - as in chunks missing.
-New rotors - current set are a little warped.
Once again, hey everyone, can't wait to join the fray ; )
