Wink New 85 Owner from Utah!

My name is Jay and live in southern Utah, just got my first car and have my drivers permit. We have been eyeballing my RX-7 for the last 6 years as it sat in a carport in my neighborhood. Occasionally it would be moved onto the street, but never really used. One night my dad picked me up from a school dance and while we were were driving into our neighborhood he asked me how much cash I had on me. As we turned the corner I saw the RX-7 rolled onto the street with a 4-Sale sign on it. The next day when my mom brought me home and opened the garage the RX-7 was proudly parked in it. It is an 85 GLX with all the options and the 13B motor and 5-speed manual. Everything works, and it drives great we got it for $1500 of which I still owe my parents for. Dad bought me the Haynes manual so we can work on it ourselves. The car came from a lady who bought it from her boss when it was 2-years old and she gave me a folder with all the receipts.

Thanks for registering and welcome aboard, Jay!

You sure that's an '85, though? GXL to me means the 2ndgen RX-7, the FC...'86 to '89 for that trim line, I believe. There was an '84/'85 1stgen RX-7 that had the fuel-injected 13B rotary engine but it was the GSL-SE trim line.

Nonetheless, read up and have fun with the acquisition. Glad the peeps realized they were never going to restore and sold it to someone who would fix 'er up!

Welcome aboard. You should post up some pics of your new toy. And by the way you have some awesome parents for doing that for you.

Thank you

Thanks for giving me a warm welcome to this site guys, but I found that my car has a problem and I hope that you guys can help me out, because I found out that my car is leaking oil from what I think is the oil cooler. I am not sure what steps I should take to find the problem, or if I need to get replacement parts where should I get them. I think that the metal seal is cracked to the oil cooler, it may be that my hoses have cracks too. Should I replace both of them anyway, or attempt to fix it? Please help!

Make sure and register at http://slcrotary.com. There are some locals that can prob help ya out. I'd ditch the Haynes manual, and download the factory service manual.

I have found out what the problem is, I have good reason to believe that my seal is cracked on my oil cooler. I just need to find a 26mm wrench to try and take it out.
