Hi my name is Edward and I've been into rx7s since I was 14 but I just didn't know it. I picked a FD in Gran turismo 2 just because the car felt great, look fast, and was easy to control. I picked up my first FC in 2001 after I saw the fast and the furious( I know I'm a ricer). I came over that FD which was weird for me since I loved mustangs. A little while later friend of a friend said he he one for sale for $500! I thought it was a steal for a FD but it turned out to be a FC but I was not dissappointed. The body was clean but it didn't run the guy said it was a minor fix. So I took it to Midas where they reversed the neg and pos wire on the started and charged me $50 but it ran and it was the fastest car out of all my my other friends cars.

My plan for my current car are to do the turbo swap and do some road courses/ autocross

I didn't know anything about car but I am learning slowly but surely.

I have met a ton of cool guys from Azrx7 and around the streets.

Pretty much a cut and paste from my intro thread but....

I've always heard stories of those rare gem finds on Craigslist but I would have never thought I'd find one. After lots of searching and missed opportunities, I stumbled on my 10 Year Anniversary RX7. Sure it was a 4 hour drive to get to it but man was it worth it. There were so many good things that were pretty much telling me to get the car.

It only had 79,000 original miles on it. The guy who sold it to me kept it insanely clean (garage kept) and did everything to maintain it. He was the original owner and kept EVERYTHING (manual, ads, original pricing sheets for extras, ORIGINAL SALES TAG, never used spare key, extra windshield, louver, and so on).

From what his wife told me later, he didn't even let his son use it for prom and rarely even let her sit in the passenger seat (passenger door still has that new car door feeling when you open it).

So, on that Saturday, I did the drive. It was an adventure with lots of tight turns (the guy literally lived on a giant hill in the middle of nowhere with no guard rails), a Ferrari (360 Modena was beasting the downhill), and getting lost but it was so worth it. Now I'm at home enjoying my beautiful RX7 every day I wake up.

My future plan is to autocross my RX7. We have monthly autocross here so I plan to learn as much as possible on how to have the best control over her.

My name is pat. I guess ive always liked rx7s, but I really got into rx7s back around 2001/02 when I started watching japanese racing/drifting videos and things like initial d... I have owned a ton of cars.. more nissan s13s can I can count these days, an ae86 corolla, and I am currently on my fourth FC. Rotary engines fascinate me, but to be honest I lost my taste for them back in 2003 when I owned my first TII FC. I went through three brand new mazda longblocks within a years time due to tuning issues and I just got fed up and went back to pistons. If I had more time, money, and patience I would love to get into 20b's.. but, I dont currently. I have been drifting for around 7 years now on/off... almost exlusivley in s13s. Back in 2006/2007 I spent most of those years traveling around the eastern half of the states competing in pro/semi-pro competitions d1usa/nopi/pro-am yada yada yada...
After the 2007 season I took a financial break from drifting competetively and have played around with a bunch of different cars since then hoping to spark my interest and get back on track again. s13s dont really get my blood pumping anymore (driving or building) and I recently found myself looking for something a bit different than what I have been used to. I recently picked up an 88 gxl which is currently stripped down to nothing and is in the process of recieving a 2JZ. The car is definately being built with a focus on being another competetive drift car for me to use, but also I would really like to start getting involved in some time-attack/hill-climb racing as well.. I am hoping to set the car up with a very multi-purpose design, it should be fun to play around with.

also, I love the RX8 more than most things in life.

that is all

My name is Alex. My first introduction to RX7s was when I was 17 years old and I met JunpoweR off craigslist. We met at Bob's doughnuts in San Francisco very late one night and he gave me a ride in his white turbo II.

I had a 02 wrx at the time, and over the course of the next 2 years, I put many twisty road miles and even took it to Buttonwillow for a HPDE.

Since then I have owned 2 miatas, one was a 94, the other was a 91 with a begi 4.2 turbo kit on it, it made ~160hp to the wheels.

I have also owned a 87 corolla gts that stayed stock as I never found the funds to modify it.

I am now living on the East Coast, Boston, MA, and just purchased a 89 rx7 GTUS from the original owner, a woman driver, with only 68k miles on it. I plan to restore it to it's original glory and do some track days here on the East Coast before bringing it back to the Bay Area.

I am very happy to be part of the rx7 community, and hope I meet everyone of you!

Hey everyone, I'm David.
My girlfriend's (who I live with) dad, traded a computer to some guy he knows and got an RX-7 convertible in return, and it only has just over 69k miles!
We drove it home, got some seat covers, a new battery, and now it just sits very lonely in the garage.
My original plan was to get it nice and fixed up, but then I realized that I don't really like convertibles, or even 2nd Generation RX-7s very much.
It got home fine last summer and started up when we ran it to keep some gas going through, but not it won't start :/
Now we're trying to sell it.

damn, well i JUST got my rx7. yr:1987 model:FC honestly.. i was a FF guy, didnt worry too much about drifting because i 240s and 300s are too big for me heh. i found out rx7s were FR so i picked one up. i actually like how its a rotory because it supposedly pushes harder than a cylinder and its also lighter ya? well anyways, my car is completely beat up. itll be my little project over the summer. any ideas on what i can do with it? also.. where can i buy a new dashboard? the whole thing.. cuz the MPH is waaay off, and the backlight doesnt turn on. and maybe a new center console. and the back, seeing that i bought the car already gutted. thanks.

Well my brother has always been an rx7 freak and he has been trying to get me to buy a car that we can have fun with/autocross. After moving back to Amarillo (where he lives) I only had my work truck and then my car (that I gave to the wife) so I had nothing fun to drive.

One day we were out at the junkyard "shopping" and he started talking to me about an rx7 for sale in town for $250. Well I had some cash in my pocket and easy access to a trailer so long story short I was $150 poorer and had an 86 rx7 sitting in my driveway.

Having just recently bought a house I have to spend most of my money on it so the rx7 got pushed to the back burners until my brother conned me into doing the 2011 grassroots motorsports challenge.

So now here I am getting back on the forums and starting to see what kind of money my wife will let me spend...

My name is Mike. Im 17 years old. My first car was a 06 Pontiac GTO, which is my daily driver. I purchased a FC back in 2008 for $600 in hopes for me to have a project car that i would eventually make into a working rx7 but unfortunately everything fell through with that car and it ended up sitting in my driveway for a year. After that I picked up a 90 240sx but wasn't able to get a title for the car so i ended up selling that as well. Back in 2009 is when I picked up my FD. I absolutely love the car. I've wanted one ever since i saw one when i was 7. Its like no other car that I've owned. Im happy to become part of the rx community and hopefully will have a lot of fun.

How did you get introduced to the RX-7?
i actually stumbled across my FD while looking for a new car because my '08 mugen was no where near close to feeding my need for speed. little did i know it would ****** me up by the back of my pants and drag me screaming down the interstate
Where did you get your RX-7 from?
I got it off of craigslist believe it or not. as soon as I seen the pictures and went for a test drive I fell in love...wait no its more than love its destiny. i got it from proto motoring in riverside
Have you had any problems with the RX-7?
when I bought the FD its been lowered but too low the wiring harness needs tucked ALOT better because my front tires rub against it all the time and the wheel well and its jacking up my electronics and my tires
What are you plans for the RX-7?
definitely getting coilovers so I can run this girl retarded, 3mm apex seals if i dont already have them i really dont know what all the car has because the owner before myself had a turbo install reciept and oil changes im trying to take it to a rotory shop in southern cali to take it apart and tell me what i got

What do you know about cars and RX-7s in general?
cars ive been working on hondas since i was about 14 up until last year i had no idea about rotory engines and their retard strength capabilities and am head over heals for them. rx7s i know detonate because the engine is too free flowing when you upgrade boost and exhaust and dont remape your ecu to compensate for all the extra air. top speed = ??? it injects oil regularly to keep the fuel system well lubricated and thats about the jist of what i know about rx7s but am constantly looking to expand my knowledge.
Who taught you what you know about cars?
self taught and some people i work with are car enthusiasts as well
Have you met any new friends since owning your RX-7?
no but i have had alot of "nice car!"s and "what kind of car is that?"s gets a little old sumtimes but it never gets old to see a wreck almost happen because a guy on his gxr1000 was trying to break his neck to get a better look at your car and misses the truck infront of him by an inch

My name is Eladio. I have always been interested in rx7s. I have always wanted one but I never really learned much about cars. FINALLY , after I wanted a crotch rocket and my wife didn't think it was a good idea I decided to actually get an RX7. 4 days ago ! It's an 87 non turbo. the guy that I got it from did some mods but nothing big and besides they are all "custom"..which equals crap.. I knew the car needed works. but that's the reason why I got it ! so I can learn and have a lot of fun. ever since 4 days ago I feel like everyone is looking at me when I drive by. about 4-5 people have stopped and asked me about it. It seems like people are amazed when they see an RX7. It feels really good. The car is in pretty good shape for $2k. I just want to make it perfect !

so i was 21 with a honda..... i know WTF right was looking at trying to sell it for this sports car i had seen on side of road for 1,200$. not knowing how much of a joy this car would really be. so i sold the honda for 800$ and managed to talk the gentle down on his price to 950$ cash. first rainy day Fell in love with the car, every turn barley any power just sideways threw turns, and its speed just so enjoyable. But the only issues is not knowing or understanding how the motor works. love the car and will never get rid of it willingly. No more pistons for me

VA My uncle Got drunk

I fell in love when I went to the bar with my Uncle to play some pool. He ended up getting drunk and I got to Drive his second gen 7. I loved the way it seemed like i was just sitting on the road and flowing with it like a river. It was the first car that I ever drove were i got excited about being in it or even driving. Other than the first time that I got to drive a car on my own that is.

I ended up trading a 1989 ford van for my first 7. the van did not run and the guy just wanted it for parts. He said he could not keep the RX 7 running and wanted to get rid of it. So we traded the only thing that was wrong (beside the rust on everything) was the carb need to be rebuilt. So i bought a rebuild kit for 30 dollars and an alterntor for i think 80 and it ran like a champ other than it also needed new floats.
It was an 1982 Gsl(i think) i was in school to become and aviation Mech and one of the instructors happen to own a second gen. Not only that he ownbed and RX 7 shop for a number of years.

Sadly I was forced to get rid of it when I boctched the carb r&r( i messed with the phenlic gasket) it was sitting in my drive wa for almost a year. I was going to post it on here for sale. When a Kia Dealer ship had a drag it in pull it in sale. So i draged in and got 4k for the trade. Being married and having a kid can do that. But now my kid is a bit older and My wife has a new job. I also have a little bit more time. So.. Back on the look out for a first gen to find my love again.

I will always miss and love Meahgan. That was what i named my rx 7

How did you get introduced to the RX-7?
Alright, I found the RX-7 while I was working on my 86 corolla silvertop swap. The person I bought the corolla from had an FD in his yard that he was working on I thought it was a pretty awesome looking car so I started looking into them. Thats how I found out about the rotary engines.

Where did you get your RX-7 from?
I bought mine from a fellow Marine here in Okinawa who bought it from his Sgt.

Have you had any problems with the RX-7?
None so far, but when I start really getting into my project I'm sure I'll hit a few snags.

What are you plans for the RX-7?
For my time in japan Im not going to do a whole of engine work to it, so right now I'm going to research and work on doing a megasquirt setup with it. As well as working on the suspension. Eventually im going to import it to the US. Then after I take it back Im planning on doing a complete engine overhaul with a medium street port and bored out for 3MM apex seals

What do you know about cars and RX-7s in general?
I believe I know a good deal about them, but I always have room to learn more about them

Who taught you what you know about cars?
My dad taught me a lot about the basic mechanics that apply to every car like brake systems and such. But most of what I know about EFI I learned from my experience on my corolla and reading a lot.

Have you met any new friends since owning your RX-7?
Definitely have, especially owning one in Japan.

Hi every one, my name is Marvin.
I'm not a alcoholic or into drugs but I am hooked on RX7s.Just playing I hope no one takes it the wrong way.To those with those problems sorry but there is hope for my addiction there is none.

I owed 94 Vr4s, 94 ZXTTs,98 GSX,to name a few and no cure.It all strated when I was 12 a older friend had a 1st gen I learned to drive with it.That's all it took was to just try it once.Before I was 16 I had my self a Green GSL with the Traga top.Since then I have owned a 82,86 GXL,and a 88 TurboII.

After the 88 I decide to try different sports cars. There are Great sports cars out there but My love for the RX7 will never die.

1/2010 I finally bought my first FD a 93 Touring with 34000 miles all stock from the 2nd ower.I waited for years to find one in it's shape untouch I wanted to be the first to put my touch on it. It's been sitting since then I will take it out the first weekend of May, just around the coner!!

Story

Here is my story.

I have been looking at fcs for a long time, I have had 3 deals fall through to get one and I had stopped trying. I went to a track night at one of the local CA tracks and was talking to a subie friend about it, and he said he has a buddy that has an fc that he bought a month ago and cant find any parts for it.

I call the dude, and say yea, I wanna check it out. He's says it needs a lot of work, but come check it.

I went to check it, its an 88 se, water seals are bad, so smokes and eats water. Tell the dude the most I can do is 500, he thinks about it and asks when I can pick it up. Next day I said, I was getting ready to leave, and he says 550 pick it up tomorrow. Sure.

I go back to my evo meet that night and a buddy of mine has had 13 rx7s, is parting out an s5. So i already have a bunch of parts that I can get for it. Here are the pics, and I am starting to get parts already.

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...&l=7dff1814ee.

Oh yea, did I mention that it has ohlins suspension? 550 for the car!
