Looking for my Dream
Hello guys!
My name is... just call me D =) I'm 26 (will be 27 in few days ) RX-7 was my dream since... hard to remember... Specially i like FD model.
I'm not own one yet, but with your help (i hope) i'll drive one soon
I'm looking for one right now, but no luck =( I checking ad's but usually there only... not good stuff.
I decide to import car from Japan, but i need advice from ppl who already done that.
Only what I know is the car should be 15 years old.
So i ask advice who to do it? What will be better:
1. buy car from auction by myself and pay some Japanese guy to deliver car to boat (and after do all papers by myself)
2. use company/dealers and give them do all job
Oh yeah... I'm from Toronto
I know i just came here and already ask questions on my first post, but its really my dream (and i don't care if maintenance of this car is to big and i should be tech guy to do some works on it! IF NOT TRY - ITS MEAN NEVER HAD A DREAM!)
p.s.
Sorry for my English (my 4th language )

For the second question, I'd probably go with option #2. I did it that way when I was overseas and it was really simple.
Here's a few websites to look at:
http://www.japan-partner.com/
http://www.japaneseusedcars.com/
http://www.tradecarview.com/
Tradecarview is kinda like autotrader/ebay for auction companies. It lets you choose from a wide selection of cars from various sellers. What this means though is that you may deal with less reputable sellers.
Anyway, I did my research on a seller on tradecarview and used them. Things went well and I was pretty happy with my car. I believe the other two websites let you select your requirements (ex: "Black 1992-1997 Rx7 in grade 3.5 or higher, manual) and then they'll find a match for you and let you bid on it.
After it's bought, they'll fax/email you the documents you need, it'll get shipped, and then you can go to the port of entry and give customs all the documents. I brought fluids and stuff with me just in case, but all I needed was gas since they can't ship with more than 1/4 tank.

I'll suggest you to get a importer to find one for u.
It's really annoying to do all those paper works, and you have to get it inspected before registering.
Most importers just add a thousand bucks to do all those annoying stuff for you, which is reasonable considering the time you spent on finding out how to import it yourself.
