Just got a 93 turbo....
First rotary. Quite excited. Getting back into "fun" cars. Had and sold a 600HP MKIV Supra years ago, and never stopped missing the whine of a turbo and being thrown back in the seat. So here I am again, trying it with a rotary this time.
One problem, car don't run. Yep. I bought a dead one. Story goes it just didn't start one day. Gave it a compression test (using the hold down the valve method so it didn't pump up), and I got even bounces front and back. So hoping it's just a bad fuel pump, relay, coil, or something like that. Will see......
Started tearing into it already today. Probably gonna go parallel turbo, no PS, no AC, remove air pump, remove OMP and premix, and several other things right off the bat. Hell, may just do a Haltech from the beginning. I know what I'm doing.....mostly.

Good lord, I had read.....but those stock twins are nuts. Been tearing stuff apart, simplifying the engine bay and stripping off the extras (EGR, air pump, air valve, going poor mans sequential, etc). What a rats nest. Finally got it all out.
By the smell coming out of the intake I'm betting the last guy just flooded it and didn't know what to do. Will be pulling plugs, turning off fuel and spark, spraying silicone into intake, and cranking for a little bit. Then will do compression test again, see my numbers. If all looks good, will try firing her up next week, after I get my EGR and air valve block off plates.

Oh yeah, a GT35/40 is on my short list.
Along with either a Haltech E6X I think.
Fuel is gonna be crazy. I think I might run E98, which I can find locally. And to be even weirder, I have been pondering using propane as well. My thought is propane on the primaries (little 25lbers), and E98 on the secondaries (huge 220lb/hr injectors).
Think about that. Never have to worry about flooding it at start. You can't flood what isn't a liquid.

Well.....false start on that project. My dumb *** didn't modify my compression tester properly. I have now. Rear rotor, 100-100-100. Front rotor, 100-30-30. ARG!
Spend two weeks going round and round. LS1....2JZ.....rebuild.....LS1....2JZ....rebuild.
Finally decided to stick it out and be a rotorhead. I'm gonna believe all these motor failures are the result of bad tunes and not watching knock carefully. I used to have a car that would get hurt almost instantly if you ran it into knock (98 Buick Grand National), and I managed not to hurt that motor.
Course the 94 Supra was frigging invincible.
But something about 3 moving parts in the whole motor just appeals to my love of elegant simplicity. So, I'm going straight to a street port rebuild, single turbo, and a E6X.
What the hell, in for a penny, in for a pound.

Well, so much for easy fix.
I didn't have my compression tester modified correctly before. Now I do. Front rotor is 100-35-35.
Spent two weeks going round and round.....LS1......2JZ.......rebuild.
Decided to stick it out and rebuild the rotary. I'm gonna trust these motors die when abused, and I plan to be as cautious with it as I was with my 1987 Buick Grand National I used to have, which would pop a head gasket the first time it knocked (which I never did).
Of course the MKIV Supra I had was about invincible.

wow, having said you owned a MKIV makes me feel at home here to a point. A FD is a nice ride and good luck with everything on your new ride. I still can't get over a 2jzgte though but who knows?

you may want to look at haltechs other options. the e6x has all kinds of problems. e6k is great, im now running an e8. also check out AEM. will you be tuning the car yourself?
