Introducing myself .... 1992 RX7 FD

Hello, my name's Joe and I'm new to the forum, but am now on my second FD. I first bought a JDM 1992 RX7 FD in 2009 with a blown motor. I was in college at the time and funds were tight ... the FD was not a wise financial decision. I purchased a JDM engine from an importer in Toronto for $1450 (with turbos, ECU, wiring harness and everything ... oh how times have changed!) ... installed it in the car and quickly discovered the apex seals were shot on that one too! I scrapped the idea then sold off the car and spare motor for roughly what I paid for it.

I got sucked into the Nissan family for awhile, owning a 350Z from 2009 to 2020, a 300ZX for awhile as a project that never took off and had an 240SX S14 with an SR20DET swap for a bit too.

February 2020 I found a 1992 RX7 FD for sale in Ontario that had a built motor and some other extras. The body was clean and rust free. Car was obviously in need of some TLC but I drove 3hrs, bought it, put it on a trailer and brought it home. I still think I got a good deal for it and have spent the better part of the last year slowly restoring it back to what I want it to be. It has a rebuilt engine with "aggressive" streetport, single turbo GT35R, v-mount intercooler setup, Apexi PFC for tuning, other supporting mods as well. The engine runs very well and doesn't smoke, so I'm assuming it was built and tuned right, but I still want to get it tuned again shortly since I recently installed a GESI cataltyic converter into the exhaust.

So far I've replaced all of the suspension bushings, inner/outer tie rods, sway bar bushings, front lower control arm, new Azenis RT660 tires, new carbon fibre gauge surround and hood, new shifter bushings, oversized water pump pulley kit, new brake rotors/pads. Installed adjustable rear sway bar end links, aluminum door handles (to replace one that broke off), new clear headlights (that I will be retrofitting projectors into soon).

Anyway, here are some pics of the car, looks about the same now but with new tires...and will have a new bumper tomorrow lol

Also, anyone know what that Vertex front bumper is worth? I took it off today and found the authentic Vertex badge on the inside. Its been modified slightly for the front licence plate holder which may or may not be a positive for some people. I'm picking up a new 99 spec front bumper tomorrow as I continue to work on the exterior before paint.

Welcome to the forum!! Your new 7 looks like a great starting point! The 99 spec bumper will be a welcome addition on the car in my opinion. Do you still have any of your Z cars? Those are fantastic cars and they sound amazing!
