Hello from SoCal!
Hey all, My name is ben. I just came into my first RX7 Fc. Absolutely fell in love with it. I hate to say it, but It was not my intention to ever own one. I loved the look of the coupe FC rx7s and would not mind adding an FD rx7 to my collection one day, but funds are tight and again I dont see myself owning one.
Story of this 1989 13b Convertible FC is that my buddies dad inhereted the car from a good friend, he drove it. I talked to him about it, shooting the sh*t and told him I wouldnt mind owning one (an FC was one of my top desired cars back in highschool along with an MR2) He asked me if i wanted to buy it for 5k, told him that i dont really have the funds or the space. 2 months later he asked me if i wanted to buy it for 2k after he put 1200 into repairs (waterpump, plugs, wires, alternator, belts) i told him again that i dont have the money or space. finally on this past friday he called me up after he bought his new truck, asked me if i wanted him, he said to come pick it up or hes going to donate it (wouldnt start after letting it sit for two weeks) i showed up the next morning with a truck and trailer and picked her up.
I got her running after a quarter can of carb cleaner and alot of smoke and have put 130 miles on her since. Runs great, smokes a little, but best of all, the convertible! she needs a little TLC (who wouldnt after 197k miles). Good news is, the past owner said the motor was rebuilt at 138k miles.
My plans are to buff her up, replace the convert top and replace the seats as they are in a sad state of despair. She will be part of a ford family (currently own a 92 mustang lx, 86 mustang gt t-tops and my 03 ford ranger) Hope fully ill have some good memories to come. Absolute caught the rx7 bug after driving this gutless wonder.
