First time owning a real car. Lots of questions.

Hey all. So I've owned my 93 Chevy S10 for a while and it's been really easy to take care of and drive.

I just got a great deal on my friend's 84 RX7 GS 'cause he had to move out of state.
It's pretty run down, but the two main things it needs to run consistently would be a new battery (easy enough) and a new or larger carburetor. If you don't rev it when you're idling the engine dies. I guess I need to connect all the hoses around the air filter to the right places, if anyone knows of a diagram around here a link would be cool!
I guess I'll need to talk to a mechanist about making a mounting for a different carb, but I was also thinking about taking it off and having my friend help me clean it out and rebuild it, would that suffice? Any ideas how much a little bracket for a larger carb would cost? Or are there any pre-made brackets on line anywhere?
In essence I'm really starting from scratch here. I've never had a rotary, or a manual before.
The lights also don't work. they close when you turn the car on and won't raise up.
The friend I bought it from said it was probably mainly just fuses, but I'm not too convinced of that. The blinkers also don't work.
Soo.. as much advise and information you all can give me the better!
Thank you!
