Finally bought an RX-7 ~ Minnesota, USA
Hi, I'm Miles from nowhere MN.
I've always had an affinity for these cars, FB's and C's mainly.
Mine is an 81' GSL, 114,000 Original miles, Manual, completely stock now except for the radio going in. No real plans, except eventually (maybe) going one inch lower on springs, new struts, and some basic engine work, etc.
For the last few years I've been over at Sixthsphere.com (Saturn Community). Which was abrasive as hell.
Anyway, Besides a general understanding of the fact that I know nothing about the rotary engine itself, I'm decent with DIY work. I'll probably be popping up here and there when I need help Diagnosing a problem, or sourcing parts.
Straight off the bat, I've been using this car to drive to College (30 miles) currently.
My radio had no FM, so I pulled the stock unit and was going to put in a new pioneer. Low and behold, none of my dash wires seem to be the right color, although I can tell they are original. If anyone knows a thread (i searched a decent amount) about reusing the stock harness to install a new head, please let me know. I had the base radio with no tape player.

Thanks everyone. Ended up wiring the radio from scratch. Other than that, changed the air filter and picked up (This confused me) 4mpg. Old was a K&N, new is Wix.

Good Job! - I too am a new owner of a RX-7. Mine is a "84" GSL-SE and i'v been driving it to work for 2 weeks now - what a fun car to drive - I'm in Foley MN so if you find a mech-a-nick up here, let me know and i'll do the same. There has to be a GURU somewhere in this state.

A guy I know in little falls used to work on rotaries, he sold all of his spare motors (a few ported 12a's and two 13bt's) to a local guy who runs RX-7s. Don't know who though. I'll try and find out next time I see the mech.
