FD owner new to the forum
I have a 89' Nissan 240sx coupe and a 93' rx-7 which I've had for close to 2 years. It has 42k original miles, and no mods yet. Love the car but the stock power is getting boring, and there seems to be odd little problems here and there like tiny oil leaks and whatnot. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I hate the 240. I got it cause I crashed my miata and I wanted something like it but its a total nightmare. The rx-7 rules. Car handles like a dream and turns heads still. Its a car everyone should own once. And ya I havent had any horrible problems.. yet. Knock on wood.

careful this site is addicting... I used to be stock (and happy) then slowly I said I'll mod it just a little... Then I don't know what happened
... One thing is for sure I'm nowhere near I pictured myself to be lol
Welcome and you have a beautiful car man!

Anywhere there are cheap cars, there are poorly built ones. There were more S13s sold in the US in one year than FDs sold here total, and they're cheaper, so there are a lot more chitty ones out there. What is your point?

Hey thanks guys. I bought the 240 from a mexican that put a sparco sticker on the rear window, dragon floor mats, and a shotty ebay muffler. I expected probs but it was so low mileage I didnt care. For now I'm just making it reliable until I have to move to NYC then I'm selling the nightmare. I say all this.. and then catch myself shopping for coilovers for it...

I would love to start modding it. But I'm not sure where to begin. I want to keep the stock twins for a little bit longer. And I'm taking a trip from Ohio to Florida in the spring so I want it to be reliable. If you guys have any suggestions feel free.

Only mod your car after you spend countless hours reading about this car and hence fully understand the ramafications of each and every mod you plan to do. Otherwise you will regret it.
Here some advice on what to do first make sure you read up and understand why in such order:
1)Electronic Boost controller (NEVER BOOST PAST 10 PSI unless you have an aftermarket computer that is tuned for higher boost levels). EBC's have a built in boost gauge.
2) Downpipe
3)COLD (and I mean COLD) Air Intake (see M2 box)
4) IC (if its a SMIC make sure you have a duct for it, no duct = useless)
5)Exhaust (RB is a good one, no highway drone what so ever)
6) make SURE you are not boosting past 10 psi, no boost spikes nor boost creep.
The FD is just waiting to be uncorked. You'd be surprised what those mods at stock boost will feel like.
good luck!
