Bull in SoCal
NAME, LOCATION, CAR,.. smalltalk.
NAME: Lanier (aka Bull)
LOCATION: Wildomar, California
CAR: 1991 Convertible
SMALLTALK: So here is the tale that leads me to the Blaze Red Vert I currently own.
The tale begins in 1986. My local Credit Union had a used GSL-SE for sale for $7000. At the time, I was making $3.50 an hour so it was out of reach (yeah, I know I could have foregone eating, paying rent and bills for the sake of the car). Thus, the RX7 flame was ignited.
Fast forward to 2006. I was able to get my hands on a 1990 Vert. It was an automatic with non-engaging 1st & 2nd gears. Every time I started off was 3rd gear. Nevertheless, I drove this beast up and down central and southern California. Its end came during a cold snap in April of 2007. One of the fanbelts didn't have enough tension which caused it to freeze in one position, which caused it to be rubbed raw and snap, which caused the engine to overheat.
This brings us to 03/30/2016. I hop on a plane from Long Beach to Sacramento. Meet the seller at the bank, pays the cash, grabs the keys, hops in the car, and I'm on a 450 mile journey home in my pride and joy.
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Cheers,
Bull
This is my old 1990 Vert automatic that only had 3rd & 4th gears working. It's pictured here on 17 Mile Drive outside of Monterey, California.
This is my current pride and joy.
