1987 rx7 Turbo
I bought my car for 700 bucks a few months ago. It needs a rebuild and burns oil so in california, it doesnt pass smog and can't be driven legally around town. So I got some stuff from atkins rotary and need someone to rebuild this. Is a licensed mazda guy necessary for this job or has anyone on here done a rebuild themselves?
Give me tips and all about the fc3s. I want to body kit it and repaint it after the engine fix. What kit? What color? Thanks guys.
The rx7 is exactly how I bought it except for the taillights, an OEM spoiler, painted interior and just bought rear seats for it. Pictures coming soon ? or ?

Very nice deal...
I dont know if this will help but I looked for years to find someone to do the job right and got screwed by impostor rotary mechanics for a decade. My absolute favorite mech is a guy named Elliot white From Turblown engineering in Phoenix. Kids a friggin genious on electrical and his mechanical work is out of this world when it comes to tuning. He even has the mazda factory ecu analyzer computer, and the Mazda proper compression tester. He also works on Ferrari and Lamborghini and other turbo mods for pretty much any car out there. If cali issues a temp permit to drive the car it would be worth the short hop to Phoenix to let this guy do the work. I have had nothing but honesty and excellent work for very reasonable pricing. He's not cheap either though. Good luck, and feel free to e me @ bkehoe37@hotmail.com , or skype me direct to brendan.kehoe.. Late..

Yea I hate the interior color. Kinda soft feeling geeky style to me. I am planning to strip the first fc with black interior that comes my way. Oh whoa, 1500 for an older rx7 is okay if its a turbo II model, I wouldn't pay that for anything lower in model.

You named the exact body kit and paint I was thinking of...magic drifter kit and pearl white. Great minds think alike. Thanks buddy. I will definitely post new pictures after the transformation. It should only be a couple of months. My birthday is in March so I plan to get myself the FC of my dreams for my birthday.

Yessir. One could think its a swap but it seems unreasonable to sell for 700 if it has been through the swap, paint, tII hood, and the 5 lugs. I thought the same thing but keeping it stock probably caused the value from seller to seller to go down. Lucky for me, the seller was really in need of money and already had another NA FC in his garage.

Yeah man great deal. I got my GTU for 500. but it only had one wheel on on, no breaks, only the driver side seat, and no interior at all, but it did have the s5 rubber radio and vent trim piece (which is usually pretty hard to find). and it only had 58,000 on the original engine and drivetrain. the engine ran perfectly smooth. i dont know why the rest of the car was so f-ed up. So i think i got a really great deal as well....
