I am just in process of restoring my 83 RX7, which I am original owner of.
It has never been winter driven.
It is an on frame restoration, with the exterior completed and the interior upholstery, better than the original.
Next steps are taking the rims into a re-finisher, new exhaust system (as it is original), new alpine system and voila by May 01 new RX7.

That is a nce find. My 85 was low mile, but not as low as yours. it handled so nice and was so reliable. I drove that thing everywhere. I babied it and i drove it like i stole it at times. Suck up a possibe 10,000 loss in 'probable profit' and drive it. You will have fun and memories that money can't buy

WOW! great find craig. From the pictures shown I would definately say those are original miles. The car is immaculant! Personally I would hold on to it and cherrish it for a while. Some pics of the undercarriage would be nice.

What's been leaking onto the fan blades? Or is that shed rubber from the old belts that's been picked up?
Quite a bit of corrosion on the battery hold down, and pitting on the strut bearing tops.
There's rust on the dizzy bracket, AC hose bracket, and along the drains on the leading edge of the hood. Quite a bit of rust visible, actually, on many exposed parts, clamps, so on.
The high-voltage cables look to be original - - and that's rare to see, with the color-coded boots for leading and trailing.
All this lends creedence to the car being all-originial or close to it - - many of the rusty parts (including hose clamps, etc) would have normally been replaced during routine maintenance. Certainly if the engine had ever been taken out, much ofthose parts would have been swapped along the way.
It looks like it was stored covered outside, or inside but in a damp environment, for a long period of time.
Would be a good restoration project car; many touchups needed for aged parts, & probably nearly all soft parts need replacement (possibly including oil seal o-rings) but likely not a lot of mechanical wear.
Making it reliably road-worthy would be a lot of work, but making it into a collector's piece would be a more appropriate project, IMO.

ahh the curse of the low mile orignal car. Please treat with care or sell it to someone who will.
The rear quarter... Is it possible with a skilled bodyman to repair vs. replace? and make sure that the bodyman can match the paint exactly. You don't want to screw up a gem.
