10K 1993 Mazda RX-7
Hi! I'm Nick from Colorado Springs. I have been an avid Subaru guy for about 3 years now. I owned a 1997 Subaru Legacy GT with 170k which first got me into cars. It was slow with a 2.5L H4 N/A motor with about 170 hp at sea level (I'm at 7k feet ASL). I was continually amazed at how well it handled in the snow. I was drifting one night and I got it stuck in snow above the door handles with nearly bald all seasons on. I punched it almost to redline, and it somehow dug itself out. Needless to say, I bought chains, a D handled shovel, and Michelin X-Ice snow tires the next day. The car was quite a money pit after it blew the headgasket when it topped it out at 120MPH in Texas and the center differential locked shut. It was also an automatic. So the next year I wanted to upgrade, so I bought my first new car, a 2012 Subaru WRX hatchback. It was a beautiful car with the wide body, and extremely powerful. But it was nothing like the old Subaru. So many of the engine parts were plastic. The intercooler was impossible to remove, because it was bolted to the turbo housing. I was continuously re tapping the bolt hole because thermal expansion would stretch the bolts. It sat extremely high, even the stock exhaust droned because there was no sound damping and it just echoed around in the hatch area. Needless to say, I put lots of money into the car and still hated it. So one day I parted it out as far as I could and started looking. I was aiming for a BRZ, 350, or 370, or 300zx. Subaru wouldn't give me squat for a trade in (24k), so the BRZ was out of the question. My buddy sent me a link one day and said "you need to buy this." We sent each other links like that a lot, but neither of us ever acted on it. The link was to a single owner, 10k mile, silver 1993 RX-7. I went to check it out and the car was extremely clean. It had been modified circa 1994 with a pettit intake, hks evc-ii boost controller, and hks intercooler piping. I thought about it for a day, and traded my it for my WRX and got 1k back from the trade. I probably overpaid by a bit, but there weren't many other RX-7s with that low of miles to compare it on the market and I liked it. First modifications are going to be bucket seats, a racing harness, and a D shaped steering wheel because I don't really fit in the car that well. My legs don't fit under the steering wheel!
TLDR: I traded a 2012 WRX with 16k miles for a 1993 RX-7 with 10k miles and I love it.

If the seats and steering wheel are in good shape, keep them in case you decide to sell the car in the future..... to me......

I got it checked out by Precision Import Repair in Denver and it got all good marks. The pillow ball bushings in the back are going bad, but other than that it is absolutely perfect. There was not a spec of rust on the bottom of the car. It looked like it had never been driven in the rain. I will have to post some pictures of the underbody when I get it up on a lift for the oil change. It is amazing.
