they can still be found.....however, they are becoming scarce. when i bought mine from rxecret7 a year and a half ago, they said i got the second to last kit. that could mean that the lexxan company went south some time ago...

That's still the plan. I have a couple places in mind to make the surround. I'm going to play around with the HID option too. Space is pretty tight under there, but I think there should be room to mount everything. I want to get the regular kit up and running first though. I'm motivated again to finish these things.

The Knight Sports uses same kind of IPF lights RE Amemiya old style light kit uses and they suck! I went through Knight Sports, RE Amemiya, and C West and I am most happy with my own kit.

Hella lights are very nicely made. The housings and relector are made of aluminum unlike all the other lights such as the CATZ lights C West uses and the IPF lights RE Amemiya uses all have the epoxy reflector with metalic coating and they melt over time. The low beam (CATZ MSC) on my C West light kit melted after an year, shorted the wires and blew up my $90 Piaa bulbs. Those lights need air to cool them down. If you block the incoming air such as on the C West and RE Amemiya kit, they melt. The instruction on those lights even warn you about it.

Border light kit might look nice but it still uses the stock headlight which means it's not going to provide better lighting than before and now it's sitting behind the housing, you will have worse lighting than stock.

If you want just looks, go with knight sports, RE Amemiya, Border, C West, etc. If you really want to have improved lighting over stock, go with any kit that uses the Hella. You will not be disappointed.

Yeah, the black strip around the light covers can be ordered with black, red, silver and white. I had a new version of the light cover with thinner strip. It actually provides better lighting than before. Here is a pic.

You can order the light kit with unpainted covers so you can design your own trim or if you have some special request on the covers, just let me know before you order one.

The light kit is based on RE light kit with modification done to it. You can buy a RE light kit, spend another $250 to get the Hella lights, do your own labor and custom stuff, and spend a total of $1700 to get the same result as my $850 version or you can just buy my HID version for $1450 to have the best bang for the buck HID sleek light kit on the market righ tnow. Need I say more? BTW, all the lighting components I use including the HID are made in Germany so you can expect them to have the same quality as the top of the line German cars which use Hella as OEM supplier.

I seem to remember Chuck indicating that the black strip across the covers could be changed (color).

Additionally, he makes the pod portion in fiberglass or CF. With what he is offering, NO ONE should ever purchase another RE kit. They are more expensive and light very poorly.

Chuck, what is the lead time on a set of your lights, not the HID ones. I would like to probably order a set toward the end of the month.

Jason:

If you are ordering a set by the end of the month, I will have it ready for you. If you want to convert to HID later on, just send back your lights and I can do the upgrade for you as well.

Mahjik, I'm with you on this. Do you or anyone else know what type bulbs the KS kit uses? Or are the lamps sealed beams? I need to know incase I decide to go HID later.

Don't forget East Bear...crappy lights though. You don't have to cut the frame to fit them in. Some like them, some don't.

My friend has the East Bear's and honestly in person it looks not that bad!! I actually liked them, yeah lighting is not much improvement over stock, but so is RE's.

I remembered awhile back I talk to the shop Phase 2 and they said that a new kit from East Bear is in the works which sits lower, with plexi cover and also no hacking required, but that was 3 months ago and they said the kit probably won't be out until year end if not longer.

i believe the east bear kit would also leave plenty of roon under the light to run some cold air intake piping down front

Chuck is there anyway I can get you to paint the covers in VR red??? Also is there anyway I can make the brown or orange light, black like the other one? Maybe paint it or something? It sticks out a lil too much for my taste. Also is there a cover for the back where you can see the adjustments for lights? These are minor gripes and I plan on getting your kit soon, but just some issues I thought I would bring up.
Also could you take a picture of the HID highs?
And when is the soonest you could get me an HID high/low kit???

Don't forget the R-magic sleek light kit! It sits lower than the RE and Rotary Extreme kits so that means some more cutting. I dunno where you can get this kit, but here are some hot pics of the 7 in last month's Turbo mag.

I can paint the covers with red trim but I don't know if it's going to be the stock VR red but should be pretty close.

The high beam has the brown housing. I am pretty sure you can paint that black just using regular spray paint. If you want to be **** about it, send them out to a powder coating place and have those powder coated black. The housings are made of aluminum so it's safe to be powder coated.

There is no cover to hide the adjustment screws. You can barely see them though unless you look really closely into the lights. You can also paint those screws black if you want to.

I don't have any photos of the HID high beam. I don't think it's necessary for my car. I barely use the high beam and I don't plan to go off road with my rx-7 either if you know what I mean. I don't have any orders for the HID high beam yet so I can't convert one at this time. You want to be the first one?

The HID components should take about 2 weeks to get so once you place an order, I can ship you the kit 2 weeks later.

R Magic sleek headligh kit is not really a kit. It's part of the bumper. The headlight is integrated with the bumper just like the RE Amemiya FC.

Chuck, the powder coating sounds like a great idea, and I have a friend that can take care of that.
I'm not sure about the paint, when I have a body shop paint the housings, I will see if they can't paint the covers.
Any tips??? Would a flex additive or sanding the outer lip help???
If not, I can just leave it black for now.
Yes your HID lows are very impressive, but I live out in the middle of no where.
Do you think the HID highs are overkill???
How are the standard highs?
Also if you have the HID highs, is there a delay from the balast, between turning them on?

Thanks.
the_glass_man
getting one with HID lows for sure.

Thanks for clarifying RotaryExtreme...After posting I looked at that pic and figured that's how it was. Still a tight kit! B4 i saw your kit, I would have considered the RE kit, but yours is much cheaper and seems to provide more light.
