go to grocery store
buy a can of "zud" cleanser

work into a paste with just a bit of water...and rub the bejezus out of it...like you would with a polishing compound. Chemical mechanical polish at its finest...

Be careful. If you rub too hard - or too fast with a buffer, you can build a lot of heat that can break the glass.

it works fine and you can also use the Bartenders stuff Bonomi. Used this on all vehicles to remove grime and car wash wax on windshied. A safety razer blade run backwards...not pushing the sharp edge into the glass is good also.
Acid etches and vinager is an acid...baking soda is a caustic or acid neutralizer. But doesnt do any good if time has gone by.

I've been doing auto glass for over 4 years , bonami and a few other non-consumer (industry only) products is about all you can use on glass . From my experience i have not seen anyone succesful remove scratches from glass , a rub mark is one thing but a scratch is grounds for replacement . I once came accross a windsheild that had acid damage and tried everything before i had to replace it . i knew i wasn't going to be able to , but i just wanted to atleast try so the customer didn't break my shoes for not trying . You also stated that you used steel wool , if you did chances are you put deep scrathces in the glass and you can pretty much forget about it . I'm just stating this to prevent you from wasting time and effort . These statements are only based on my experience with autoglass and i can be wrong but i just don't think so . Good Luck

Wouldn't tempered glass blast into a million pieces if you scratched it?

I ordered this, but have not gotten around to trying it yet:

I'll post here whenever I get around to using and share my results.

Auto windsheilds are not tempered.

the windsheilds aren't tempered but every other part IS in most cases . there are a few cars like benz's that have laminated parts all around (windsheilds are also laminated)

Windows=plural.

Plural=more than one.

More than one=two or more.

Two or more (as in windows on an RX-7)=my assumption that rxseven07 was talking about glass other than the front due to the fact that the "windshield" was never mentioned.

Love ya DamonB.
