holy crap! I always hear how Vis has really good fitment. But that is crappy.

Is it a possibility that the bad fitment on your car was due to the installer? If not then why didn't you return it? Not flaming just asking

well the car was in an accident, so i had the whole car repainted and i needed a new front end. so the front end came in after the car was done and since i figured oh its VIS, they are pretty big, its probably gonna fit pretty good, i guess ill just send the bumper out to get painted, and when i get it back, i had to put it on, but as you can see since it was already painted there was nothing really i cud do, and its not like i cud blame the paint shop. i was like WTF. It was one of those type deals where i got a big discount on it so pretty much there was no taking it back. so i had to stick with it.

Maybe their hoods are a different story, i dont mean to give their company a bad name.

oh yeah, and i had to bend my fenders inward to try and get the sides to line up at least. They probably just got a mold from a bad bumper to begin with.

I have seen and help fit both a vis and seibon scoot hood. I order a seibon hood a few days ago, IMHO its better fitment and quality than the vis, but it is more money. The vis did fit good, but I have seen some fit horrible and some fit really good, kind of hit or miss. If it were me I would spend the couple of extra dollars and buy the seibon hood.

it really just depends on peoples experience with companies that sell carbon products. one can say that the fit and finish is "spot-on" and another can say " i had to take it back several times because they piece didnt fit right" but if you want the most strength and highest reduction in weight you want to be looking for "dry" carbon fiber they have almost no imperfections in the weave ie: no waviness of the weave or bubbling in certain areas because there is no clear coat or gel-coat. but also "dry" CF is also 3-4 times more expensive...IMO i would rather pay the 3k for a dry CF hood or hatch and have them weigh only 5-10 pounds while "wet" CF products typically weigh 2-3 times as much even though it is CF. the extra weight does come from all the fiberglass that is used to strengthen and hold its shape under stress. which is why i tell my friends who are looking for CF hoods, trunks and front fender to not buy them because of the questionable quality. one of them recently bought a trunk and hood for his S14/240 and the parts didnt even look right. there were hand prints embedded into the clear coat, and there was no bracing just holes going right through the pieces to put a bolt through to attach the brackets for the hood and trunk. NO MOUNTING POINTS!!! just a bunch of holes. all you really have to do is use common sense and basic customer rights

Several of my friends have VIS carbon hoods, everone of them fits like factory, no gaps. The quality looks top notch However, on my buddies Integra the carbon looks a bit wavy, but you have to look closely to see it. I cannot attest to Seibon though, I know of no one that owns their products

VIS KS type hood.... Carbon weave and clearcoat is indeed FLAWLESS. The fit is not as tight as anything OEM, but considering the under $500 cost as well as some of the fiberglass horrors that I have seen in terms of bodykits, I was pleasantly surprised/relieved.

If your looking for a decent functional vented hood the VIS is an excellent buy, unless you are expecting nothing less than absolute OEM fit. No idea on Seibon.

What's your take on this, guys? A couple of the other places that I have looked list the seibon hood for $700 or more. This and one other place had them for around this price. I doubt this comes with the rain tray, but beyond that any comments?

I have the Seibon Scoot hood and it is prob one of the best pieces i have seen made. I looks great fits amazing and when you look at it you can see yea thats a quality product. My body guys did nt have to do anything to the hood to make it fit. Just line up the holes like on a stock hood and line up the gaps. I can take a feeler guage and it's the same width through out all gaps! I was really amazed in the quality.

Seibon is the way to go i feel.

Thats a really good price. The best i could find was 695 shipped at hopupracing.com, but they are reliable and I have dealth with them before so I was fine with paying the 695.

I have many VIS parts on my FD: front bumper, rear bumper, skirts, and hood. Fitment was absolutely excellent. But then again, I bought my parts directly from VIS. A lot of guys try and save a few $$ and buy them from Ebay and other shops which CLAIM the parts are made by VIS. Who knows.

Also, if your car has been in an accident, don't blame it on VIS. Your accident is the obvious problem

I bought my VIS hood from thr RX7store and I am in the middle of installing it, and I have 1/2" gaps on both sides and the headlight cut out is to far back. I an trying to get it exchanged, hopefully they will take care of me.
