I would get a carbon tuner hood

Hmm, since I have yet to see any evidence of this, I will dismiss your remarks. Then you try and promote a different hood in the same post.

Top it off you only have 2 posts to your name.

Im a little suspicious.

Anyways, I have been swamped with work and school this week. I will call soon and see what the deal is. Sorry for the delays guys.

I bought one of the VIS hoods off of Ebay.....it is the worst fitting hood I have ever seen. With the hood completely closed and latched, I can slide my hand under the driver side of the hood....where as the passenger side sits flush and perfect almost. There are very slight gaps around the fenders and all that....but when it gets to the headlights and bumper....there is over a 1" gap around the driver side headlight and it slowly gets more even with the bumper as it reaches the passenger side headlight, where it sits flush again.

Here is a pic of the fitment. I am currently talking with them about getting me a different hood...this is simply a POS hood that is warped beyond belief. I'll let you know if they **** me or if they send a replacement hood in for this one and take their other POS hood back.

Which hood is that? The VIS Knightsports knock off?

Talk about terrible fitment!

You sure its the VIS hood? Does it have a badge underneath by the latch??

The only reason I ask this is because I have never seen anything but great fitment from Chris's hoods. Im sure if you contact VIS they will work something out with you.(if it's really a VIS hood)

Maybe it is a VIS hood. Maybe the ebayer you bought it from warped it somehow or it got warped in shipping. Who knows? The best bet is to pick it up from a shop or VIS itself.

**ALSO** I can't say this enough... don't buy hoods off ebay that say they are something. Either buy the hood from a shop that carries VIS or deal with VIS directly. Anybody can say it's a VIS hood or put a badge on it. It's not worth the 25 bucks you save.

It came wrapped in VIS packaging and tape, has VIS badges underneath the hood....one by the latch and one towards the center of the hood. I can post pics. I did buy it off ebay from Carbon Creations....and there feedback is 103 positive with everyone saying perfect fitment on all their hoods. This one is absolutely horrible though. I am waiting for them to get back to me on what they are going to do to remedy this situation, I'll keep you updated on how they deal with this situation.

I talked with the shop I bought if from and they are going to talk with VIS. I sent them a few pics of the hood fitment, so hopefully VIS will stand behind it's product and send me a replacement hood for it. I have heard nothing but good things about VIS and about the shop I bought the hood from. Everyone has had excellent fitment....but mine is just way off.

We'll see what they say....I am supposed to hear something by Monday.

I really hope they take care of me on this deal...the hood appears to be excellent quality...I just got a bad hood from them is all. We'll see though.

That is what it is.....it will not slide over the safety latch. I was not aware I had to cut a hole in my hood to make it fit...but I was messing around with it today and I could see that the latch and hole design was different..and without the latch on the car, it shut fine and fit fine for the most part.....how do I cut the hole? With a dremel? Why would they not build a hood with the hole already cut so that people could simply bolt the hood on. I mean, they have windshield washer nozzle holes, headlight guard holes pre-drilled...but yet they do not provide a hold for thelatch to actually shut all the way.

Talked with VIS....all the new KS hoods that have been made and are being sold do not have the hole for the latch pre-cut. They are sending me $50 to cover the charges that the body shop will require to cut a slot out so that my latch can slide by it. So all should be good to go.....I am just going to do it myself though, no need in paying someone to do it for me.

What should I use....air grinder? dremel? jig saw? I am thinking a dremel with a cutting bit to cut the slot....and then some rubber cement to make sure that the carbon fiber does not frey. Any suggestions or recomendations?

This something new I didn't know about from them. Maybe it's because every car is different and since it seems where it latches makes a big difference in the fitment, they figure that cut should be made specific to the car.

Im glad thats what it was instead of a faulty hood.

I drilled two holes with a 1/2" dill bit, then used the sanding discs on the dremel tool to widen them up, took about 5 minutes total. I knew thats what your problem was, sorry I didnt mention it earlier Ive been really busy. Make sure they are equal on both sides otherwise it wont close right. Glad I could help, and at least you dont need a new hood now (which would have been a pain)
