SUPER HOT! ) use colored hoses and hose couplers, get aftermarket wheels that are heavier than stock, polished radiators & ICs, etc etc. I think you get the point. It's kind of hard to be ALL go and NO show, or visa versa. Some ppl (as on this thread) may want a bit more show than others such as yourself. I don't ever see you going to a car show etc, whereas myself for example am very much into that, BUT am very into road courses at the same time.
Ramy, you misunderstood my post. I was specifically avoiding posting my opinions on whether or not something is ricey. Hell, I have no problem with non-functional mods (polishing, R1 brace, etc), as long as they are tasteful. What I WAS doing, was expressing my opinion about the hypocrisy that is very much present and widespread on this forum.

Yes, you CAN rice an RX7 out like civic ricers do, but it's not done often.
But don't you see the snobbery and hypocrisy in that attitude? An ugly bodykit is ugly whether or not it's on a Civic or an FD. There is ZERO difference between putting a Type R badge on a Civic or a US FD. If you don't see the logic in that, hopefully you will when you get older...

I'm not an auto-x junkie, I'm a track junkie. I only auto-x to keep in shape and for the Mazda Motorsports membership.

As far as aftermarket wings, anything that alters the aerodynamics of the car with UNKNOWN effects is not a good thing IMO. More raw downforce on the rear without specifically balancing it out else where can lead to unstable handling. Most of the aftermarket body kits are aerodynamic nightmares any way. I've never had any stability issues at over 120 mph and I don't even have the stock spoiler/wing.

Like I said earlier, I didn't post in this thread to once again voice my opinion on aftermarket body pieces. I'm sure most of the 3rd gen guys are well aware of how I feel already. I understand that a lot of guys, especially younger guys want to stand out and be noticed, but that's not me. Never been a Type A personality and never will. I didn't even want a red FD as I thought it was too flashy but I ended up with one anyway. I was only posting to point out an example of a common hypocritical attitude on the forum.

Any further discussions, we should take to PM and not clog up this thread any more...

Rice! If you want lamborgini doors than go buy a lamborgini, dont moleste a car that looks beautiful from the factory. I dont see how people can spend 1500-2000 on something to make their doors open different. what the hell is the point or functionality of that? I could think of thousands of other things that i would rather spend that money on that would make the car perform or function better, rather than having my doors open differently. It just my .02, if its your car than do what makes you happy.

Flip up doors are kinda cool. I don't know that I would ever put them on my car because it ain't my thing. I like the fd with less, esthetically speaking. Honestly though if you want to paint your car pink and fly a tutu from the antenna then knock yourself out. People are always going to think it's hot or it's not. That just comes with the hobby and as we all know opinions are like ********. If you ask for one here on the forum you generally will end up with both.

It amazes me how people want to control how you spend your money, and they get mad about it too. And, they argue and argue, and they get angry.

I say go for it, especially if they're free. I'll eventually get them for mine. I don't think you can even compare civics to FD's. A civic is a four door sedan and vertical doors look ridiculously gay. The FD's doors however, are perfectly shaped for vertical doors... it was one of the first things I noticed the very first time I laid my eyes on one.

Some people here are all about getting the most out of the rotary. Good for you; some people are younger and enjoy the attention they get with their cars, so naturally upgrades like this will be more important. Personally, my go is all there right now; time to work on the show.

if i had a free vertical door kit, u know what i'd do? sell it. hey theres 1500 for a nice set of wheels! but on a more serious note, i'd deem vertical doors almost rice on an fd. there isn't much more to say than that...its your car, do whatever u want with it
