Takata Harness
Hey guys. I'm wanting to buy a set of Takata harnesses for my FD and was wondering if anyone knew if I need to buy the long or the short versions. I plan on mounting them to a harness bar that mounts between the rear strut towers.
Thanks a lot!

1. The functinoality of the the quick release that many other brands don't offer.
2. Added safety since I will no longer have an air bag
3. I love the way they look.
4. I'm getting a deal on them.

I still like the exclusiveness, brand, and looks of the Takata, but man they're overpriced!
I'm still trying to find out if I need to buy the long or short versions. Would it help if I got the measurements of the long and short ones.
Thanks again.

Everything Takata makes is overpriced bullshit. You're also aware that you have to replace the harness every two years in order to keep with a current SFI?

Here's a list of harness manufacturers from the SFI site:

Thanks again for the info.
No matter which harness I go with, I want to make sure they are installed correctly. I've heard that the angle the sholder straps are run at is extremely important. Do you have any informatino on the subject.

The harness manufacturer and/or racing body should provide maximum angle for the shoulder straps.
I have a question for you though -- are these harnesses for support when tracking the car (used in conjunction with stock belts) or are they going to be the sole safety device? If you are using them without the stock belts, I wouldn't just bolt them to a shock tower bar, no matter how beefy it is. I would only mount it to a dedicated harness bar as part of a rollbar/rollcage or to a chassis point.

He did say he was going to get a harness bar.
Bodyshop,
The harnesses 'should' come with a diagram that shows the optimal angles to be used. My GForce harnesses did.
Keep in mind, that no matter how much they cost, if you are just wanting FIA approved, then all FIA approved went through the same tests. Price differences are for a name, not necessarily a better product.

Most of them can be re-webbed, but in most cases that cost just as much as getting another set. Unless you are doing wheel to wheel racing or time trials, no one will check the expiration on the harness. If you are doing either of those two, these should be the least of your worries.
