system setup questions.

I am looking into some form of a system, but I need advice. I am relatively new to car audio. infact the last time I priced a system was in 1993, so...

I want accuracy and kick, not boom. Although it would be nice to have the lower frequencies. I am understanding that a sealed box would be best. I also don't want hundreds of pounds of equipment. The car in question is a first gen. I have seen some people hiding 2 8"s behind the vertical carpet. this aims the drivers toward the front of the car. other opions is to have the 2 8"s or larger pointing up verticaly towards the hatch glass. This seems to me wouls cause resonance, but My expertise is not in mobile audio.

I plan on running 6 1/2 in the factory spots in the rear, using a componant set up, and the 4"s up front. and the sub(s) in the hatch.

I have a back seat so I do not have a huge amont of room, and I like the idea of the hidden setup, but I want opinions on what brands of speakers and amps to buy. I am probably going to go with the Alpine / iPod head unit.

BTW, music will be mostly rock, country and classical.

small phoenix gold octare R 10" sub and 300 watt plus amp, 2 sets of nice pioneer components put the sub by one of the wheel humps bass in non directional dosn't matter where you put it mount the amp it the oposite side of the amp in the storage box components in stock speaker locations nice set up works and sounds amazing in an open hatch like our fb's ...... a cd deck with sub control on it would be nice aswell but that will give you exactly what your looking for

if you want quality - ditch the rear speakers, they ruin a soundstage.

If you dont beleive me, tell me of a car that has rear speakers , and has recently won a SQ competetion?

you won't, because rear speakers drag the soundstage towards the rear, and can make it sound very strange on certain setups. Build some fibreglass enclosures up-front, and aim the speakers from either side (front only remember) at your face, play around with the positioning of the tweeters to find the best positions.

A 10" sub would be better than a 8" sub, but if you have a good amp, then a 12" sub would be just as good, if not better. But always remember to run the correctly sized box!
