Stock speakers on 94 touring
Hey all, I've got a 94 touring w/the stock bose system and want to upgrade the deck, speakers and throw in an amp and maybe a pair of subs. I know it has 2 door speakers, which would be relatively easy to replace. But, what's up with those weird bose acoustic wave speakers in the back? Are there only the 2 door and the wave and that's it? No run of the mill midrange rears? Also, how large of a box would I be able to fit back there? 2 10's? I have a single 12" I was using in my old Talon, maybe that'd fit..

I'm about to post some pics of my setup.... Here's what i did......
By a set of 5.25" speakers. They fit nice in the door, I uses pioneer premier components and mountes the crossover in place of the original amp and the tweeter on the top little black triangle on the door (pics soon). Get rid of the acousti-crap. Take a dremel and remove the rear storage pockets (where speakers go on a non-bose) Buy a pair of good 6x9s and make a template for mounting. Cut out a hole in the storage pocket (it snaps out) and mount the 6x9s in there. Best to mount a small sub in the hatch (go with 10s, harder punch) because they slam (it's a hatchback!) and mount the amp(s) on the revers side of the storage compartment wall-divider thingy
. Buy a din pocket , an antenna adapter, and a wiring harness. In my opinion, it's easier to reuse the stock radio mounts (little metal things on the side) to mount a new radio in because baskets don't hold well to that little piece of plastic...........
i will put some pics of my install up soon....
If you need anything else, pm me.
<<by the way, this seems like a good time to mount your batter in your storage bin. shorter power cable.... easier. ground the amps on the strut tower brace cetner bar bolts. Works great, no whine.....

1. Diamond Audio 4" fit perfect in the bose box. The main problem is the depth and they are the only ones under 2".
I have subs in the wheel well but don't recomend it. The spare doesn't slide unless I push the corners but sometimes I drive without it then what do you do if you get a flat.
2. Bostan Acoustics Pro 3-way speakers. The 4" in the door bose box, the tweets up by the mirrors on the triangle and the mids in the back but you'll need to buy the rear speaker grills and stuff.
You can still ad a sub in the cubby hole and a changer as well.

I love the sub idea you did in the rear bins and those amps look tight!
You must have either the base or R1/R2 model, since it looks like some kind of metal mounting bracket for the 6" speaker?
Did you have to modify that bracket to go from 5&1/4" to 6"? ...and any spacers for depth?
