stock seatbelt doesn't fit me!
I'm about to get my first RX and ScrapFC let me drive his. I'm soooo hooked!...
The problem is that I'm 5'2" tall and I have DD's. The seatbelts migrate over them and then the belt ends up right up against my neck...
It scared me. I'm afraid that if I get in an accident the seatbelt will break my neck. It's probably just me being paranoid, but can anyone give me any thoughts on this?
Can I mod the seatbelts? Move where they are mounted to?
No you can't have pics of the DD's...<GRIN>

You could try one of those seatbelt adjusters that they make for children and those vertically challenged. It clips to the belt and lowers the point at which it crosses over the chest. It's designed for exactly what you want...to keep your head from getting lopped off. I've seen them in car accessory shops, dealerships, those upscale carwash shops, etc.
Good luck (not with your problem...that's easy...I'm more concerned about the fallout from the revelation of your DDs ),

POST PICS, jk, but modifying the seatbelts can be challenging, since I don't know of anywhere you can buy aftermarket replacements. You might want to think about getting a harness set. It will be more work putting it on, but if safety is you concern, then that is the only way to go.

I'm concerned about the seatbelt adjusters that clip on. They don't seem very sturdy. The ones I've seen look like they'ed snap and suddenly there's a lot of slack in my seatbelt. Its not taking my head off, but it's not stopping me from hitting the wheel either.
I've thought about aftermarket belts, but I don't know what's legal in Calif, and I don't PLAN on doing any serious racing or autoX. And I don't want a cage. I know that.
On the other hand, I'm really looking forward to driving something that I don't have to fight to reach the controls in. The 7 I drove adjusted for my lack of height very well..not all that surprising, really...

It seems to me if you wear either a very loose fitting shirt or no shirt at all, you should be able to route the seatbelt between your DD's and be okay. Assuming your car is left hand drive, the seatbelt would run under your right DD and therefore would not be able to work its way up over them.
Hope this helps

feeding the belt between my DDs means no bra.
no bra = not an option. not when you're 28 and they're stock. The aftermarket ones come with better suspension.
also no shirt = not an option
If I'm in a wreck or even just pulled over, I want to meet the cops with CLOTHES ON!
I've worked very hard to never allow cops to see me naked....make of that as you will.

But seriously - a tough problem. You probably need a custom made "booster" seat. I would bet a couple of inches of high density foam would do the trick. You might want to talk to a local custom upholstery shop - they should be able to help you out. It will probably take a couple of fittings to get it right, but we're not talking a lot of money to make you comfortable and SAFE.

no cage for me, this will be a daily driver. I just want to be safe. I don't want to have to worry about the belt when I'm driving. Plenty of other thngs that need my attention at the time.

I wish I could envision your problem personally.......just kidding.
My suggestion would be to move the upper seat belt bracket forward. This would not be simple. You would likely have to have some welding done.
Perhaps you bolt something to the existing upper bracket that would extend it forward.
Anyway, I wish you the breast of luck, Adam
Sorry, couldn't resist!

I was wondering if I could move the seatbelt bracket down about 3 inches...that'd be just about right. That way the belt would stay at my shoulder and not migrate.

I think the lowering bracket would likely be the best (breast?) solution, provided you use a burly, stiff piece of steel.
BTW, what are those pics worth to people?

Obvious solution:
1) Buy a set of metric bolts with threads that are perhaps 2" longer than the stock bolts that hold down your seat rails to the floor. Buy Grade 8 only (for strength) at any good hardware store for probably $2 a piece. I think you'll need 5, 4 for the seat rails and one for the female seat belt buckle attach point - I really can't remember.
2) Buy a set of machined spacers or a box of washers that fit the bolts, and install the spacers/washers between the seat rail bottoms and the floor to raise the height of the entire seat frame. I would try an inch first -you might want a little more. Make sure you tighten everything back to spec torque, I would guess it's around 40 ft. lbs. or so.
Now you'll also have a convenient place to stash your purse to keep it away from all the perverts like Adam C.
(j/k Adam...)
You also won't have to look through the steering wheel when you drive! (OK, that WAS cruel....but you seem to have a good sense of humor - being vertically and horizontally challenged and all)
BaDaBing.

This seems like a pretty good idea. Any idea how a setup like that is likely to fare in a crash?
BTW I think the description we should use here is vertically challenged, horizontally enhanced.

The first thing I would worry about is the seat belt decapitating/injuring me if it was not properly positioned. Happens hundreds of times every day.
Hmmm, sounds like a menage a trois brewing here.....
