Stereo cutting out on bass
Anyone ever had a problem with this?
My head unit shuts off when I have the bass turned about about halfway up. I can turn it up a little more while driving, but at idle it has to be turned almost all the way down.
I have an aftermarket head unit wired to two 10" subs with a 600 watt amp.
My battery and alternator are both new (I have a 105 amp buick alt installed.)
I think the radio is seeing low voltage and is shutting itself off. I know my alt is putting out 14v at idle though.
Any ideas?

I would try running a temporary power from the radio directly to your battery and see if you have the same problem. Just tie the red and yellow from the radio together and run that to the battery. If it still cuts out then make sure you have a good ground for the radio.... maybe make a new one to bare metal to be sure. If it still cuts out then disconnect the remote turn on from the amp and jump a small wire from the main 12v+ input on the amp to the remote turn-on on the amp. Make sure the remote wire you disconnected from the amp doesn't touch anything during testing as it will still be live.

how are the 10's running via RCA jacks or speaker wire (there are amps with high inputs guys)
also what speakers are you running throught the rest of the car, all stock or aftermarket?
and what year is the car
I am thinking it may be a OHM problem, and at higher RPMs you obviously have more current avail which changes things...
