special car alarm

does anyone know who makes that car alarm system where you have a keychain keypad and if anyone touches certain parts of your car e.g. drivers door or pass door or hood it hows up on this keychain led unit?

and has anyone have any good or bad stories with it?

I'm in the market for a good alarm like this for my FD too.

Any experience which is best?

The alarm you are referring to is the Clifford Matrix series.

I have the Matrix 2.5 on my car (only 299 installed) and it works wonderfully. The responder (remote) has a 1/4 mile radius and can recieve the pages from anywhere within that 1/4 mile. Very neat system.

The Matrix 3.5 also comes w/ a remote starter and a built in turbo timer. This alarm however is 599 PLUS installation (total out to about 800). Not to mention, if your car is a manual, it is illegal in 48/50 states to give it remote start.

I didnt see the reason to pay the extra money for the 3.5 as I couldnt use the remote start anyway.

just my $.02

Holy crap!! that is cheap for the Matrix 3.5 RSX!!

Can you get me that deal for me?? I need another remote..

I have the matrix and it rocks!! I absolutely love it.. except when dubulup got in my car and put in to first gear and I remote started the car.. that wasn't fun at all.. especially when the car is rolling toward another person's precious FD (sorrry HDP)..

i've heard very good things about the lynx 2000(in fact im gettin one) and what could be better than an fd on the lcd screen. just make sure you get it installed properly because ive also heard that its very hard to install and if its installed wrong you can get quite a few false alarms.

for EXTRA security (to protect stuff like your head unit and subs and stuff)...what i did in my last car was wire up a backup siren with its own battery
thief cuts the battery...it still goes off...
BUT....i had small interior sirens too that were wired to the backup battery (120db) IN the cabin so it was loud as hell in tehre too...
never had a prob with it goin off with me in there...but boy would it have sucked

Heard good things would be courtesy of myself. I like the LYNX system a lot, cheap compared to others, but going strong for about 10 months now without a single hitch. Which is more than most of us can say for our cars...

Very true it was actually 911GT2 who made me want to get the lynx in his "New Toys" thread. If you look at the thread you see some other nifty stuff like a keypad killswitch which i ordered today hopefully i dont get the wrong code like 911GT2 did though

Im actually torn between two alrms though the lynx 2000r or the M-3600 the lynx is ahead but the M-3600 is very close. Im also considering the Pheonix digital deluxe. If anyone has tried any of these could you please write about your experience. The Lynx has the FD on the screen which I like but there have been some complaints about how it needs to be installed like perfectly otherwise it can be faulty. I like the M-3600 because its got 3 outputs instead of 2 (imagine i can hook up my neon underbody kit to a button so I can be all fast and furious yo......and yes i was kidding and yes that movie did suck ***) and i can set it to vibrate. I like the pheonix digital because it comes with 2 lcd remotes instead of just one
and there little like flip screen remotes...i know i know looks dont matter its how well the sytem protects your car right,.... well come on looks cant hurt right

also all these alarms are from

welll when working with an fd a would do the compustar 2wss-as it is a full blown alarm remote start that can safely support a five speed transmission. It will work with in a mile and a quarter away from the car. it also has a turbo timer function with it will run for 2 minutes shut off the arm itself. over a great product. clifford matrix is also a nice piece but wit a max of 1500 i would rather got for the compustar. granted it costs more but hey look at the range difference

I've been looking for another excuse to post this...

As for choosing an alarm. They're all basically the same, save for a few features here and there. Go with a brand you know, if you want to get ahold of more transmitters later... or if you want to take advantage of the little if-someone-steals-your-car-with-our-product-installed "insurance" promise that most alarm co's offer.
