Question Smoked bumper lens?

I want to try and get my bumper lens out and I was wondering if there is a way to remove that amber part of the lens and have it clear and then I also was wondering if and how I could smoke the lens?

I tried a search and could not find any info on 3rd gens.

if your talking about the turn signals in front bumper yes it can be done.. i did mine myself only took like 30 minutes.. just get a heat gun and heat the unit up around the sides and the seal should give after a while.. or boil some water and stick the signal in there just dont keep it in to long at once or the plastic will discolor.. and once you get it open the amber part just screws right out. then silicone it back up and your done.. pretty straightforward just dont melt your plastic!

Its like 10 bucks a can, another member used it and it looks pretty sweet. Sorry cant find the pics right now...but they are somewhere pretty recent.

To remove the amber part of my lenses, I took needlenose pliers and cracked it into little pieces....
Then I shook out the shards from the bulb socket. This is the "Super" ghetto way, as you will prob end up scratching the silver lining on the inside of the bumper lense. Oh well.

Thanks!

So to get them off the car I have to heat them up and is there any other way to get them on without using something permanent like silicone?

well you have to seal it back up otherwise they will leak... u can use silicone or jb weld or anything that is waterproof.. you want these babys to be watertight.. otherwise they will fog up and look all shitty !

Silicone isn't as permanent as something like JB Weld. You can heat it up with a heat gun and it will come off. I did as above with my headlights.

How do I get them off once they are heated up? Do I have to remove any parts of the bumper?

I removed my yellow lens and rewired the turn signal light (the outside ones) to act as running lights. Then I wired to side marker as the turn signal. It is a slick setup. The only drawback is that that turn signal flashes slightly faster.
Also
You can buy both front and back side marker lights in crystal clear lens on e-bay for about $40 a set. I got some and they are nice but I put the stock red ones back in the rear because the clear ones made it look like some HONDA *** car. But the fronts do look really nice. (

You don't have the pull the lens apart to smoke it. In fact, I'd suggest you not pull them apart (since getting the water-tight seal back can be a pain). Just take the entire unit out of the bumper and spray the tint on the front.

Don't pull the lens apart at all. Just spray the tint on the outside/front of the lens.

I thought the same thing, pull it apart and then tint it. Well, after almost doing more damage than good I just sprayed the tint on the outside (like the shops do around here).
