The sleeper affect? ..scoot hood?
I have to get a new front bumper and hood (wreck.. ) I've already decided to get the '99 spec front bumper and '99 rear spoiler. I thought about getting the scoot hood too (I know it's a little ricey.. but I kinda like it.) But I still wanted that sleeper look.. So, should I just forget the sleeper look and get the scoot hood? Or just forget the scoot hood and go with the sleeper look? Would my car even look like a sleeper with the '99 bumper w/ rear spoiler? I wouldn't mind putting back the original front bumper and hood.. but I know mazda doesn't make any new ones, do they? Opinions.. suggestions? thanks alot.

Scoot hood! It'll still look like a sleeper with the 99 stuff since most people don't know FD's from **** but if you get the scoot be prepared for more races as everyone will be gunning for you.
Ricey? hate that word.

Even thought that scoot hood will look a little less clean (stock look), you'll definetly be decreasing that engine bay temp, so it's a big from me on the scoot (although I like the more cleaner version of the scoot without that big hole in the middle).
Everything I've read, and seen, says that a hood with vents is a pretty good mod for our cars, unlike all those honda civics out there.

problem...
I'm very tempted to get the scoot hood. The only problem is that I'm almost certain that I want the M2 medium (or large) smic and M2 intake box. Both of these items will not work with the scoot hood w/o having to cut something.. Has anyone used the scoot hood with the M2 smic and intake? Any pics? Thanks alot.

do you have to put these plates in everytime it rains? or do you just leave them in and wouldn't they kind of cover the vents making them useless?

Secondly, they don't do crap! Your extremely hot engine will still get soaked even with them on. (even with a light sprinkle of water, some testing I did with my brother's hood, it gets your engine wet.) This by the way is very bad for any type of hot engine!!! You might ask how does my brother keep his engine bay clean/dry, well he drives around with a water proof car cover and when it starts to rain, he tries to pull over asap, parks it and covers the car.
Did I mention that I'm pretty sure that they will melt due to sitting right on to your engine? I guess it was a good idea at the time but a failure none the less. Your better off driving at a very high rate of speed untill it stops raining. (the only thing wrong with this plan is that our cars get kinda dangerous in the wet due to our light weight and high hp output)
Good luck.
P.S. I'm currently trying to make something which will close off the vents in case of rain.

In the end though, the Scoot hood (if made nicely) is definantly the best looking hood made so far for our FD's (well... that's only my opinion) and is probally the most functional as far as venting engine bay heat. I suggest getting one as they make even stock cars look really great. (Doh, what am I talking about, stock FDs are beautiful )
On a side note, I was recently driving with my brother. We parked and started to walk away from our cars after cooling them off and heard about 8 kids ages about 8-15 hopping up and down saying "Wow, look at that red viper, its gotta be a viper, look at the hood!" (note my brother owns a stock red FD with a Scoot hood on it). They also said that the silver car next to it was also kinda nice (thats my car btw, with the Knight's sport III body kit on it) but its nothing compared to that red viper. Ahhhh, kids are stupid

IMO the scoot hood will look like crap with the 99 front end and wing. the hood will just look outa place. examples

i love the scoot hood i just do not think it will match will with the rest of the car. if you were gettin a cwest front or a RE n1 facer it would match a lot better.
