sleek headlights - lighting problem
Hi, I've got a set of EVO-R sleek lights for my FD. It is the HID version, so one projector is hid and one is not (2 projectors in each light housing).
The non-HID is an H3 silverstar bulb, and is plugged into the stock hi-beam wire.
The HID receives power through an hid box powered by the low beam wire.
The Problem: the high beam (non-hid) has barely any light output. I can see a ring of light (edge of the projectors) and then almost nothing in my actual line of vision. Is this because the bulb isn't getting enough power to send a beam through the projector lense? I know H3's are small anyway, but how do I get more light output, I've got just about the best actual bulb i can get, and they are new.
Another thought I had was to wire the HID box into a relay, so normally it will power the low beam, but when the relay receives power from the high beam wire then the relay will switch the output of the hid box to the high beam. 3 questions related to this: (i) can a normal H3 bulb handle power coming from an HID box?, (ii) will this increase the output of the bulb, and (iii) where would I find a relay that can do this?. it'd have to receive power from 2 sources, and send power to 2 different users.
Any other ideas on how to boost output? I literally can't drive at night with high beams, and i don't want to raise the angle of the low beams because then i'd blind people with them.
