Single DIN carputer from Jensen
I would LOVE a carputer that doesn't take alot of space in the FD. Ideally, I could run the datalogit software for the PFC AND the Geez! program for autox and track days.
Bluetooth, GPS, and MP3 would be a bonus.
I was on a vacation and got my obligatory magazine and notice the release of a single DIN carputer with everything in it...including a AM/FM tuner (which in other DIY carputers is a issue). You need a second DIN for the screen. The est. price is prohibitive but I hope this is a sign of things to come.
I don't keep up with alot but does anyone know of any other single slot, all in one carputers???

I wouldnt trust anyting made by jensen, you get what you pay for. They arent know for anything but their cheap prices. Build your own carputer, its super easy and cheap. Check out mp3car.com

I have been surfing mp3car alot. However, my choice is to have the carputer only in the DIN and not located anywhere else.
Is there another company that does this?
Also, not sure of the brand "Jensen" but that set up is est. to run close to 3k.

I concur that Jensen is garbage, it doesn't matter how much you pay for it. I have installed several and even the way they install is lame with substandard mounting points and poor fitment. If they can't manage an ISO mount then how can they pull off a carputer?
It is possible to fit a miniATX MB inside the dash; you just have to be a little ingenious with the positioning. Plus with having a real computer in there you have a lot more flexibility. You can either build something like this yourself or wait for a few more manufacturers to come out with carputers in the next few years. Just don't buy jensen.

most ppl claim their home-built MP3car.com stuff is better. is it? It will prolly have better specs but the integration leaves tons to be desired. I'm in the comp biz so this stuff is easy to do but for the general public, a turnkey drop in unit is a better bet.
I do feel these are overpriced and slow (in relative terms to todays computers). However, this unit looks 10x better than a single double-din LCD screen and won't require extensive fabbing to the console.
I suggest you do more comparison prior to just claiming you've got the solution to everything.

Yessir, i do have it already. I'm signed up to be a dealer/distributor so I'm evaluating the unit. Not in the car yet but I hooked it up to see what it'll do. Speed is fine for in-car usage (not like we're playing CS online).
Has FM tuner, gps, plays vids/cds/mp3/dvd. 40GB drive, 512MB RAM, it is only a VIA Eden 1GHz proc. 7" touchscreen LCD. 4 x 44W amp (can be bypassed for pre-out). Wifi. 4 x USB. WinXP Home.
Specs: Preamp/amp frequency response (eg. 20-20KHz +/- 3 db) -> 20-infinity +/- 1 db, S/N ratio -> Analog 96db, amplifier THD -> 0dB gain, 20 KHz BW, Fs = 48 KHz, -3dB "large" signal, BW=28.8KHz~100KHz.
I got my direct from the manuf but a Jensen repackaged product should be better suited for North Am consumption. Priced to compete w/ AVIC-Z1. They donated a couple to MTV so Pimp My Ride will feature the product...don't know the airtime.

NICE!
do you think that it will clear the shifter and HVAC controls once installed in the FD?
How is the straitfoward XP and touch screen? Just curious how it would be to have the datalogit software running on it.
AND....when can it be available to schmoes like me

teamafx,
nice product but I was looking more for a DIN computer. The reason is specific in that it would be TONS easier to run cables from the PFC/datalogit to the computer if it was located in the DIN versus the trunk, like the computer that you posted.
Any other manufactures of DIN computers?
