Seibon Products: Found out something VERY interestin'...

Hi All,

Well, I've had a couple Seibon hoods in the past and I was always impressed by their fitment and quality. The ONLY thing that bothered me though was that it seemed like they only offered their products in one type of CF weave: Twill. I happen to not be the biggest fan of twill weave and my FD has all plain weave CF parts on it. Because of that I sold the hoods that I had. I don't like to have mis-matching CF weaves all over my car so I figured I wouldn't be able to purchase Seibon products.

Anyways, I recently found out that although all Seibon products are made in Twill Weave CF *IF* you know the right people you can request them in plain weave as well . Well, I happen to know the right people...LoL. Just thought I'd share since I was super excited to hear this news. Even though it's not a readily accessible option it is an option .

Also, I found out that I'll be able to get Seibon products that have minor imperfections (Fish Eyes in CF; Small Irregularities in Weave; Wrong Bolt Threads; etc.) for substantial discounts. I didn't know this was even an option and apparently it's not, but you know what they say...anything is possible. These won't have warranties though which is the only drawback, but if price is the factor nothing will come close.

Finally, the BEST news of all! Well actually...I'll wait to disclose this one

Take Care,
Rizwan

Gordon, I agree. I like CF for its qualities, but I'm only partial to the Japanese weave because it's nice and subtle.

Ohh...I was talking to Ramy and he mentioned you had a thread on here somewhere discussing making custom emblems? I was actually looking to do the exact same thing. Let me know where this thread is as I couldn't find anything (Didn't search to hard...lol)? Thanks!

Riz, how much would a damaged ST hood run? If it can be had at a significant discount, I'm probably going to just buy one and get it painted.

Like I said before, I'll be able to get them for everyone . I'm working out the details right now so that you'll know exactly what you're getting (what type of quality control imperfections) and **possibly** pictures (I can't guarantee this though) prior to the sale. Since there will be no warranty on these items I'll provide all the info beforehand in order for everyone to make an informed decision. I don't have pricing, pictures, details yet so please be patient and just keep in contact with me and I'll be sure to update as soon as I find out...

str8 not to question you ... but selling imperfect models is nothing new. its scrap and worthless to them, but someone will always still purchase it for the right price.

any company is willing to sell there scrap.

I understand that. The issue here is availability though. These type of products are not readily accessible and up until a few months ago I had no idea it was even possible. You'd still be surprised that even though they might be considered "scrap", how much they are trying to charge for them.

Exclamation

Latest news is that I spoke to my guy and he's working on a line-up card that will list every item available. I like to be extremelly thorough before takin' on any major projects to avoid as much complication as possible. I also requested that each and every item that's available have a detailed description of the manufacturing defect. I was told that 97% of the issues will involve CF weave patterns i.e. fish eyes, irregularities in the CF weave, etc. The other 3% will be issues of bolt threading mainly i.e. bolts were not threaded properly from manufacturer so will need to be re-threaded in order to fit. All are fairly simple issues to resolve, BUT will involve a SUBSTANTIAL reduction in price!!!

No refunds/warranties will be provided on these items, which is why I feel it's imperative that I provide any potential buyers with all the information necessary prior to purchase. Shipping will still have to be paid by the buyer and the parts will all be drop-shipped directly from Seibon.

Hope that helps a lil'

UPDATE:It's been awhile, but I finally managed to get the list put together. From my understanding it appears that the prices of parts will be somewhat consistent across the board i.e. Price for a hatch will be the same as a price for a hood. Don't quote me on that just yet though as I still have to confirm. Shipping will of course be additional, but the price will be substantially below retail for new CF parts with minor defects. PM me with questions/concerns. Thanks!
