^^ Tomac,
Bend OR? I met this chick in Cabo a while back and she was from there. Actually ended up going there to visit her (did it for the nookie). Nice little rich town...

Now that I've torn it to shreds. I was origially saying that the model was not bad. yet he was struggeling with the same problems I came across... so from a modeling perspective not bad...

Nah, he just got out of academy of art SF and looking for jobs right now. He really doesn't have a job. Maybe you can hook him up. He did that one for fun so I guess his regular work is better. I will ask him to send you a DVD of his works if you can help him out.

Regarding the fender/door interface, what continuity are you maintaining across the joint?
PS: very nice work. I would be eternally grateful if you shared how you found those tech drawings.

So the fact that it's not childs play to crack the format in which developers encode their game models, and the fact that it's a game model, with a much lower polygon count than what's needed for High Resolution Renders...
Not to be a dick here, but I did do a search of what's allready out there, and FD's are rare enough in the states, and therefore not a whole lot of people with the skills to model one have done so, and offered it up for free.
I got the drawings, off the CD's that people sell on e-bay with all the PDF tech manuals on them...
PM, me if you want me to dig 'em up and send them to you...

If any of you are working on, want to be working on a model, and want REAL looking results, check out this tutorial from munkmotion: http://www.munkmotion.com/tutorials/nsx/1a.htm This guy's work is FRIGGIN" awesome I'm following along at home, working on a model of an FC (sorry, it's classified right now).
It works out pretty schwell, and his idea of buying a model to scan in the lines, then making guide splines, then using nurms to create the surface helps get rid of a lot of the interface problems that are mentioned above.
good luck, keep the results posted

Hmm, a model.
I wonder if there is software that can remove the distortions of a photograph, assuming I know the distance/height/lens information of the camera? Then I could just take pics of my car and use those instead.

I was going to do that, but unless you can't see all the detail lines from photos, and curved pieces are harder to do, and also, it's neigh impossible to align the car properly in the pics.. I took about 75 pictures before I got my model in (I had to order it), and I couldn't get three of them to play nicely together..
