Replacing Old Carpet With New in FC
I have a 89 t2 with really nasty faded blue carpet and i wanted to replace the whole 9 yards in mine with new black carpet from victoria british. vb sells them for like $230 i think the whole carpet kit. from wat i noticed it seems like you have to take the complete dash out to replace it. has any1 done this project b4? any tips?? thanx

i recently looked into doing this as well. i have read alot of bad stuff abour victoria british but have no personal experience with them myself.
the best place to buy(IMO) would be Acc

i hear a lot of positive feedback no their molded carpet. good luck with the restore.

The best way to pull the carpet is to do it right - remove the seats, dashboard, and heater core, and swap the carpet out.
Some people cut the carpet and pull it out - IMHO that's just ghetto. Pulling the dash really isn't as hard as it sounds, and I've swapped the heater core out on my convertible on a nice Saturday afternoon, taking my time.
BTW, there's only about 9 bolts holding the dash in, and you can actually leave a lot of stuff plugged in - there are a few big electrical connectors that go to everything in the dash. So, you can leave the idiot lights, stereo, instrument cluster, etc. installed.
Just have to take your time and be careful.
