Properly executed, vintage red is not pink, not even close. I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe he was referring to an FD with the original VR, where the non-clearcoat oxidized.

^ well yes original faded VR for sure.....but just two weeks ago i had a VR repaint (really nice paint job) parked next to the VIPER red fd in the picture and it really really had a pink look to it. and thats not the only time ive seen that. i guess part of it has to with what your comparing it to.

I really think viper red looks cheesy, VR pink??..purple blue hue=deep red (not pink). It looks very classy, for those who kept the original rx7 brochure you can see how nice a VR looks with fresh paint.

If you're going with red...I'd say the saleen s7 lipstick red or Viper red.

A personal friend of mine had a Viper Red FD and it was gorgeous.

Quick question guys, the owner of the bodyshop has explained to me that it's not good to do the re-paint in cold weather (20 degrees). He claims most bodyshops know this. I know he has alot of work and I'm wondering if he just needs some more time. What do you guys think?

At least 50 or 60 degrees or higher is what my painter goes with. But they make different reducers for various temperatures.

Not true. Perhaps VR FD's without a clearcoat for protection.....why would 'mazda red' turn pink over time

Mine was repainted true VR with clearcoat and it looks as good as it did 3 years ago.

What you're saying still makes no sense.

There is no such thing as 'mazda red.'

FDs were given shitty paint jobs from the factory, that tended to chip and fade over time.

My FD was given a show car quality paint job, with german Spies Hecker vintage red paint and clear coat. One does not equal the other, I guess is what I am trying to say

Quick Reply: Re-paint, suggestion on a good red?
