Cool prep. to paint rims?

Ok iv'e got some extra cash laying around, so i figured i would like to paint my rims. Im going to go with the color gunmetal. Now i want to do a good job but i was thinking about the primer. Is there a certain kind i should by? I know that sounds stupid but i want to do the best job possible on my rims.

This is my process im going to do so far.

1) Sand the rims with a rough sandpaper, then sand it with a smooth grit.

2)Prime the rims about, 2-3 light coats.

3)Spray the rims with a nice gloss gunmetal 2-3 good coats (the paint perferably duplicolor)

4) after the paint has dryed, spray 2-3 coats of clearcoat

5) hope it looks good

Now i have seen at wal-mart this spray can of duplicolor called "wheel coat" or something to that effect. It says protects rims from harmfull things (not sure what) I was wondering if i should use this after i spray my clearcoat on?

Any comments or suggestions are welcome

Here are my rims, there 93 supra rims.. o btw sorry about the double post my internet was acting up

If you want to do it right, call around your local paint shops and find a place that does powder-coating.

powder coating is the way to go... it'll last much longer and is easy to clean and MUCH MUCH more durable to road conditions
