WORST HEADUNIT EVER
i will never spend money on a pioneer unit after this...
so i just spent 4 hours tryin to wire this unit up to my 240sx, fightin and struggling...
the issue that i was having trouble with, is that its completely missing a wire that would normally be used to activate the amplifier.
red -Acc power
yellow -12 memory power
black -ground
blue -amplifier remote
blue/white -power antenna

all that i had was the blue/white wire which i ended up having to use to wire it up with instead, which had an unexpected result. i guess when you skip around tracks in cd player mode it sends a signal to the power antennae motor to make sure it is in the downmost position. well what happens when it sends this signal with my ghetto fix wiring, is the cd player will restart. WTF. it will go to the next song but its really annoying.
i have also heard that a bunch of them don't work with ipods.

if i want cheap from now on i will buy sony, at least it will work for awhile and if it breaks i can just get another.

Hmmm, what?

Should've used a relay + the yellow cable to power up the amps (and any other component)

ummm until recently NO radio had a separate AMP REMOTE wire, 90% of radios I have ever installed have not had this wire, you simply use the power ant wire for amps, usually the only radio that will lower the ant when you switch to CD or AUX is ones with that remote wire, if you radio is shutting off you just didn't hook something up right, spend 20 bucks and get the wiring harness for your car and quit hacking into factory wires, you will never get it right that way...

i would not recommend using the yellow wire either b/c if you shut the radio off the amps will still have power, and if your box isn't tuned (most are not done properly) then you will get feedback and alot of just noise out of speakers

you can use a relay and use a combination of the yellow and blue wire, but if you couldn't figure out just the blue wire I wouldn't recommend you blowing 12 dollar relays over and over trying to figure it out...

oh yea, my point was don't blame a radio for the fact that you don't know how to wire it, buy the plug and play harness and you will be good..

also if you STILL can't figure it out, then hook a toggle switch up to the KEY (red)wire and shut off the amps when you want, this is also a great COP mode, i call it the cop switch when i put it in someones car for them, hide it and if they get rolled on then they can just shut it off and even if the cop says turn it up they won't hear ****!!!

i will blame th pos radio. why.
1. i have an aftermarket harness
2. i have installed many headunits
3. the amplifier turn on is not an aftermarket unit its built into the car somewhere
4. other people had 2 blue wires and i only had one
5. i know what im doing but just for the **** of it i had other people take a look and they didn't know what was wrong with the wiring, why? because its the deck thats fucked up.

for all your little fixes you think you had why would the whole unit turn off only when skipping tracks, because nothing you wrote answered that.

pioneer sucks

the wire i did have was the blue/white power antenna wire, and no matter which prong i stuck it on the only way the amplifiers in the car would turn on is when it was on the prong where i had all these issues.

THE UNIT DOESN"T COME WITH A BLUE WIRE...

Blue/white
Connect to system control terminal of the
power amp or auto-antenna relay control
terminal (max. 300 mA 12 V DC).
page 5 of 8 of manual

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/St...Manual1023.pdf

so before you blame the equipment maybe you should understand it....
