The thing is, pioneer d1 is in dash full unit, allowing you to place cd's and nav at the same time. Also it has the nav unit built in whereas the d310 you have to add nav to the already 1200$ unit. I got the pioneer unit for 750$ in mint condition. So thats why i got it, but how to make it fit... in a 2nd gen.

Is this the Pioneer unit that doesn't allow simultaneous usage of music CDs and the Nav? If so, it's a nice unit, my buddy has one of these in his MR2. Very slick, full touchscreen and all, however the fact that you can't play your music CDs at the same time while using the nav function is just a caveat that I'm not down with. Just IMO.

Silly guy, OF COURSE you can play music and have the navi go at the same time! The navigator lady speaker person will interrupt your music if you need to make a turn. For example, your music will be playing and then all of a sudden, the navi lady will go "Left turn ahead" continue music. I'm not into videos or any other bling. Just Navigation, because it's useful for me.

how do you mean make a panel for the back?
basically it has fitment issues: (2nd gen)
1) the wires behind the unit dont allow for much depth on the unit, it needs maybe a half or 1/4 inch more space, can i cut into behind where it would go.
2)Would it be possible to install the d1 in the top part of the console where the vents/defroster is currently?

I havent tried yet. you may need to mount it out a little. are you trying to mount it flush to the front of the surround or the back of the surround?
1. NO you can not cut into the heater core box.
2. Maybe but I think you would need to move the logicon and all kinds of extra fab time would be involved.
