Pics of Maroon 3rd gens??
I know I have seen one out there floating around. I am considering changing colors to a deep maroon. Are there any pics out there or could someone photoshop my car and make it maroon. Still have not decided on it but I really wanna see what it can look like. Thanks for the help!

Not exactly. We started with that mix, but the final shade has about 30% more red, more tint and more flake.

Thanks for the pics guys!! The cars look awesome in my opinion. VR is nice and all, but it is so common in my area. The car is not all original anyways so I don't think I would be hurting it much. We have an all original CYM in the family so that one can stay stock.

Hmm... I thought I saw another pic of your car that seemed more red than this pic. It was closer to VR... was that the old color, or does it change dramatically in sunlight?
Also, I read the laser red was a "tinted clearcoat". Is there a distinct tint coat applied before the clearcoat, or is the clearcoat itself tinted?

The car was painted with the metal flake base. It basically looked like a finished SILVER car. It was beautiful.
At that point they started spraying the "clear" which was tinted red. It basically looked like cherry 7up.
The amount and mixture of the tinted clear is what gives you the final shade.
I believe this is how most "candy" type finishes are done, but, again, I don't really know.
I do know, that we started with the mix combinations for Ford Laser Red Metallic and we worked from there.
We painted my old hood and fenders with many combinations until we decided on the much more red shade that we ended up with.

Thanks for the info, WVRx7.
Hmm... I guess I'm mixing up the terminology. I'm no painter myself, either
By "clearcoat", I mean the final, 100% clear (untinted)protective coat that we usually see on modern finishes. I was wondering if that was tinted in your case.
I guess the "'clear'" you mentioned, is actually the "color coat," though it's translucent with the red tint.
It's somewhat similar to how you get a candy color on those those lexan R/C car bodies. Years 'n years ago, I painted an R/C Testarossa body metallic red using a translucent red, then a silver base, and an opaque white back coat... since you paint them from the inside out.
