Painting my FD.. thinking about a black metallic
Got my car in the body shop and I'm shopping around for some colors... I've always been a fan of the black metallics but I wonder how good they look in person.
Someone posted some pics of an FD with a charcoal grey metallic job with a blue hue and I thought that looked pretty tight, has anyone seen the car in person? Does it look as good as the pics? Here's the link...

I'm actually thinking of going a little darker than this.. so anyone with any pics with jobs in a darker grey or black metallic, please post.

Colors
If you don't want to dust off your car a lot stay away from black and if you want to see the detail of your cars classic body lines stay away from black. The Lexus IS 300 has a great Metail Gray and believe it or not the Ford Taurus has a great looking dark gray. Just a few thoughts. Good Luck.

My roommate just got a crappy base model Lancer, but the color cool. It is a very dark grey metalic... much darker than the titanium or graphite from that other thread. You may want to look into that, stock Mitsu color, no idea what the name or code it though. I'm at work now, but could maybe get a pic later.

My neighbors Mercedes SUV is a metallic black.
Up close like 3 feet it looks great.you can see the metallic in it shine. Back off 10 or so feet, then it looks like regular black. His paint is not worth it!
Look at some of the dark gray, anthracite, and titanium BMW metallic colors. They are sharp!

Brilliant Black with metallic
I just did this and I have to say my car looks excellent. It was actually suggested by the painter. The cost was the same between black and metallic black. I went with the brilliant black metallic from Doge Jeep and Chrysler. This is a current paint so you could drive through a new car lot and see it first. The color is Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat and the Jeep color code is PXR. Mine looks black from a distance then depending on the angle of the sun it switches from a dary grey metallic to a sort of forest green metallic. This is a very subtle change so only a few people have noticed it. At night it looks like the factory Mazda Brilliant Black.

The guy in the pic is Steve from Superior Auto Body in Chicago, 6147 N Broadway, inside Superior Car Wash. Hands down one of the best painters in Chicagoland... just before painting mine he had just finished working on a 2002 360 Ferrari Modena.
