paging...icemark

just going about my vert sub boxes and was curious if your going about it the same as me? for the passenger side with the brace above it i have formed a mold that consist of 3 pieces that will come together to complet the box. this is to let me later remove the box if needed. did you do anything like this for yours? it allows me to use all the space that bin allows, but still lets me remove if needed. it will all be bolted together and siliconed to hopefully prevent any leaks. i should be able to mount a ten (barely) but im feeling like theres only gonna be enough room for an 8. the airspace allows for a ten so i want to make that work, its just a matter of centimeters. or i may put an 8 there for more midbass and a 12 on the other side if i can make the 12 fit (looking like it will)

it sounds like you are only using one sub for yours, is that right? if so then you are connecting the two bins for airspace?

thanks

Well, I'm not familiar with exactly what you're doing, but as a rule of thumb, you never want two subwoofers to share the same airspace. If they do they "crosstalk", and it's very detrimental to the subs performance, and clarity. Also, I'd see no need for the 8" in there at all. The mids, and mid bass can be handled by the 6.5s. I would just use a good quality 12 (like a JL Audio 12W0-4) low pass it at 75 Hz, give it about 150W RMS, and leave it alone.

Sorry I just saw this today...

Might be better to PM me in th future... anyway

The Fiberglass enclosure I have built is completely removable and also fits under and around the brace for extra airspace.

yes it is a single woofer, because I am using a sealed band pass enclosure for more control of the woofer in moderate and high power situations

hmmm....MANY home audio speakers are designed this way, including many regarded designs such as almost all of the M&K subwoofer line. I'm not sure what acoustic phenomenon you are refering to with the term "crosstalk".

I agree with your other comments though.

sounds pretty cool maybe you could shoot some pics? as far as the two woofer setup each would be in a seperate enclosure.

yeah I'll shoot some when I get a final version done and ready for a mold. Right now it looks pretty sloppy and I wouldn't want people to think that is what they are getting if they buy one from me.
