Non-metallic high gloss silver?

you dont need relfections to show off your cuvres. on silver you just need depth. as you move around the car the depth ont he curves changes tone which is pretty awesome. take a look at this. is this what you're looking for? my qx4. as you can see the depth makes the curves pop out a bit. this is a really really light silver paint but it has been darken by the sealant.

I'm gonna drop by the local dealerships and comb through the cars. That QX4 looks nice man. Have always loved that SUV. The SL500 silver's also real nice, but it's metallic. Believe it or not, (lol) I saw a Ford Windstar van yesterday that had a real nice completely solid (one color, no flake) silver... had a nice reflection to it too. Gonna check that out...

Its when the paint has small dimples in it, looking similar to the outer skin of an orange. As a matter of fact, my car's paint job has the orange peel effect down on the side skirts. I may snap a few pics if my crappy camera can catch it.
*here*
I've been told that that means the painter didn't change nozzle tips after a certain amount of coats, either went too thick on a single coat, and just didn't take the extra time to buff it out.

so it looks like it comes down to how well you can buff the paint and polish it. Unlike the A8 it was polished from metal and special paint process of clearing it after word. Ramy, so maybe you can get a good gray base with no pearl or flake and get it mirror buffed and shinned. Maybe thats your answer all along.

no I was saying in general to get the mirror shine on silver. I was not talking about the orange peel anymore. I think that if you get a good silver base with no flake or pearl and then deeply polish it to a mirror finish is what could give Ramy want he wants.

Ahh gotcha. I'll be sure to make sure that doesn't happen again Where'd you see that...on the sideskirts?
Sonix7, yea I'm just trying to find a good silver now.
Sidenote, not gonna do it, but anyone see that BARELY teal (super light blue) tint on a silver metallic finish on the SL500s?? Saw it today...holy smokes it's beautiful.

ejay- that part of a FC has a factory applied chip guard on it, its supposed to be textured.
You dont change tips when spraying, you just spray correctly and wet sand and polish after. No one really bothers sanding that area even if it wasnt chip guarded though.
Paints I use laughs at claybars trying to remove orange peel

Strange, I've only remembered seeing one other person's car with the same thing. Everyone else's were smooth. Anyway, I just took a pic what was easiest to get a reflection from. It's not just at the sideskirts though, although you can't see it in the pic, it is also up about 2 or 3 inches from the skirt on the side, front wheel to rear wheel. Most everyone else's I've seen were smooth as well and most of them do not have repaints.

You have such a great looking BB R2 Ramy, and although some depth is hard to notice with black it's still there. But I'm partial to black since I've always wanted to own a black sports car. My vote says to leave the paint as is.

Jason, I've always wanted to own a Silver sportscar I've had the black for a while, and it's just wayy too high maintenance, and hides all the nice details. I'm seriously considering this.
I went over to the Mercedes dealership today, and they have like 50 different shades of silver haha. There's one, C775, aka Iridium Silver, that looks simply amazing. Only wish it had a touch of bluegray at certain angles like that C-west FD I posted a pic up of. Someone gave me a head's up about a silver that Lexus is using on the new GS I believe, that has a touch of blue in certain lights. I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow.
These are suprisingly reflective...with a nice thick clearcoat, I think I can definitely manage a nice shiny reflective surface, although it will never be as mirror-like as my black FD...
