Yeah I know it would look great but I have finished buying bits for this one but I am brining in a 2002 series 8 in the new year which will be getting my full attention and a heap of go fast goodies from Japan!!!
I am not totally happy with how this one turned out paint wise so I plan to sell it on in the new year to finance my newer version RX7, the next one I will keep for many years, who knows I might be able to get my hands on a spirit R!!!! Here is hoping anyway!!!

BADSVN2000: Great job with the restoration!!! It's nice to see someone not let an RX-7 get crushed when it can be fixed and on the road again. Keep up the good work. Take care.

IMHO, painting the FD's black OEM exterior parts makes the car look too linear. The black lip on any color FD makes it look really aggressive at all angles and just simply makes the car stand out more than a painted one would.

The diffuser looks great but I think I will save that mod for my next FD. I am hoping to get my hands on a 2002 FD or a Spirit R.
Christmas holidays are almost over, I cant wait to get back home to finish my car off! Starting with the windscreen getting put back in then get the exhaust made up. I will probably trundle it off from there to RX7 Heaven to get the Power FC tuned on the dyno. Then the car will go back to the paint shop for it's cut and polish and finally off to VTNZ to get re-registered so I am legally allowed to drive it on the road!!
I will upload some more pics when the car is fully finished, tuned and cleaned inside and out!!!

update:
Ok it is almost ready for its maiden voyage, have got a few more bits back on and I have just had my 3" exhaust system put on and she goes like a cut cat!! Just need to get the power steering belt on and fill her up with fluid.
I will take some more pics over the weekend and maybe a vid of it running/driving if I can.

Ha ha, yes you are right all my hard work has paid off and it is almost ready to sell.
I will be getting another one after it sells which I will modify a fair bit more than this one as I built this one up to sell without putting too much stuff on it, it is un molested but has a few goodies for the lucky buyer and most parts are new. This way I dont lose out and dont have to put a huge unrealistic price tag on it so the average enthusiast can afford it and we both end up happy

It's almost finished!
I took the car for its first big drive over the weekend prob drove it about 500kms or so. The trip went really well and its so nice to behind the wheel of an fd again. The exhaust note is nice, throaty but not too loud and it handles really well with the series 8 suspension in it especially in the twisty parts! I was so surprised that there were no rattles or creaks etc when I went over bumps, it was just so smooth!
The reason for the trip up north was to get the rest of the parts to finish it off and also to make sure it was driving fine etc.
I replaced the complete rear interior with rear seats and all. I had to replace the left rear brake caliper as the one i had was faulty causing the hand brake to lock on. I got a few other misc parts etc that I was missing so now the car looks totally different on the inside now and Im stoked!
I also managed to hook up my apex'i boost guage on a japanese gauge bracket and I got my hands on an HKS sequential Bov for extra **** factor, sorted my horn out and a few other little things.
I am now saving the last bit of cash that i need to drop into it, this is for the re-vinning process so I can legally drive it on the road. I cant wait and I may already have a buyer for it!
Anyway here are some pics of my new interior.

ok so here is another update, a not so good one!
So I have had a few issues as far as re-registering the car goes. In NZ they now treat cars post 91 as if they are a new import and they require a full check as if it was a 2008 RX8 or something. They pull the guared liners, strip the interior out to check seat belt mounts etc etc.
Upon inspection they found that the car had previously been in an accident due to chassis machine marks on the undersid eof the car. Due to the new laws, any suspected damage has to be certified before it can re-enter the NZ fleet.
So I had the certifier come and look at my car ($350) and he informed me that I may need to replace the chassis rail if it was not up to spec. He asked me to strip the front end off so he could inspect further and he came back the next day to check. He was happy with the repair but he still required me to have a 3D measurement on a chassis machine ($220), 4w ABS diagnosis ($150) and a 4 wheel alignment ($120)!
They found that my chassis rail had been put in 8mm too far back and they said there was a 20% chance that it would pull out but that was a generous 20%!!! After discussing it with the guys at the panel shop for an hour and them showing me the dimensions with my car still on the machine. I opted to NOT pay them around $600 to "try and pull it" but I have opted to have the chassis rail replaced for around $2000 instead.
At this stage I am absolutley gutted not really about the money (although 2k would look better in my bank) but its more the fact that my car was 100% finished, everything I have been working on since may last year is done!!! and now I have to pull out everything again.
This sort of stuff really is gut wrenching to sat the least. Is there anyone else out there that feels my pain???
Thanks to the NZ government for changing the rules (yet again) maybe I should just bend over and open it up for you!!!!

This is all because the guy at VTNZ found chassis machine marks underneath the car, what was a $400 check has now turned into over $3,000!!!

Ok boys and gilrls, I have been away for a little while as my car has been off the road but I am about to put the new engine back in over the next 2 weeks.
Over the weekend I fitted my new Greddy front mount intercooler kit which is going to look awesome once all the engine etc is back in.
New engine will be:
13B REW engine with large extend port Built by RX7 Heaven (Auckland, New Zealand)
3mm RX7 Heaven Unbreakable Apex seals (yes thats right they are unbreakable)
99 Spec twins for now
3" Greddy downpipe and 3" exhaust right through, NO Cat
Greddy spec Front mount intercooler kit
HKS BOV
HKS pods
Apexi Power FC ECU
5 puck brass button paddle clutch
So with this I hope to make around 240KW at the wheels running F10 fuel, I will post some new pics up of the car and engine as I piece it back together over the next couple of weeks. Dyno sheets will get posted too
