No, the wiring is really easy.
If you look at the pics on page 1, you will see a thick black wire that you get with it.
This has 3 white plastic male or female adaptors on it.
You only need the female one that the wire from the **** plugs into.
The other two i stripped the white plastic bits off (prob easier if you cut the wires as that plastic is damn hard)
also shown in the pic.
You will then have one plastic female plug on its own at one end, and 4 wires (or 4 metal connectors depending if you cut it or not at the other)
Think of it as a 'Y', the bottom of the 'Y' is the bit the **** plugs into and the top two ends of the 'Y (4 wire end) is where you rejoin your disconnected ash-tray light connection.
So split the ash tray light connection, two of the wires to one end of the ash tray light plug, two wires two the other side, rejoining it.
(This is why i kept the metal pins that are inside the white plugs that i stripped, as you can simply plug these into the metal pins located in the stock ash-tray lighting to test if it works and if you have the wires the right way round etc, then all you need to do is tape it up!)

look it really doesn't look that bad but isn't a glow in the dark shift **** a classic example of rice? I just find it odd that we who are so udderly opposed to rice are obsessing over a glow-in-the-dark shift ****.

There are two types, lighted and not, as well as 6 speed and 5 speed ones. So four part numbers. Multiply by the different colours available. Lots to choose from. They're on the Mazda Japan site.

i got it from UK Mazda. Cant believe you guys have to pay $250, i got it for £80 which is what, $140? And you lot normally get things a fraction of the price. Odd
anyhow it took an hour or two to fit it as i was being careful with my early xmas stocking pressie, and i love it now! feels fantastic! very heavy as well!
