The Mother's Clay Bar is great
My car has had some persistent bug stains and other slight blemishes that wax would never remove. This weekend (after having bought the kit 6 months ago) I finally used the clay bar and it worked fabulously. I am now embarrassed that I waited so long; it actually wasn't much work at all. I washed the car and then spent about an hour and a half with the bar. Just absolutely have the car in the shade, if the body is hot at all the detailer that you spray on to rub the bar over will evaporate nearly instantly. I did my car in the garage while making sure the hood was cool and had no trouble at all. Even the portions that I thought were already fine just have a smoother surface now; the gloss is enhanced.
I highly recommend this process for aged paint, it certainly did me some good.

Clay versus anything else absorbs the surface contaminates it picks up. For example, a rag will wipe away dirt but it builds up on the leading wiping edge until you rinse it, shake it, etc. Clay works the grit into itself always exposing fresh egde. It is to be used with a lubricant such as a detailers wax or other spray on mist/liquid shine.
