Updated the OMP HTE-R 400 since I got it bolted in last year. Mine is tilted back pretty far. I had to have Adam modify the rail so it could lean back more, and the shoulder bolster needs about 1/2" trimmed so it doesn't dig into the door panel. But that's with it hitting the rear part of the panel where it is curving to meet the rear quarter plastic.
Will fit:
1. Stock FD / R1 / Cloth / Leather
2. Recaros from the Spirt R / RZ
3. Gias Lowmax
4. Bride Zeta III
5. Bride Vios III lowmax
6. Mazdaspeed Type-F
7. Memoryfab s58
8. Sparco Sprint V
9. Recaro Profi and or SPG ( with slight rubbing to the door but not much, if you use Recaro rails instead of bride it will fit fine)
10. Sparco Roadster
11. Sparco Evo with stock seat rail (Touches doorcard, trim 10mm off shoulder bolster)
12. Sparco Milanos
13. Sparco Evo 2 LF (Touches doorcard, trim 10mm off shoulder bolster)
14. Tillett B6F XL 47 (which is the largest Tillett seat, meaning that they should all fit. Has a 30 degree layback angle, which is a little too much IMO. It will fit basically to the floor with the right rails. Probably the best option for REALLY big guys with long arms and short legs. Heavy and expensive, though.).
15. OMP HTE-R 400 (shoulder bolster needs a bit of a trim, mounted with Griffith super low rails mounted to the floor)
16. Bride Gias II Low Max on LR Rails (some rubbing on tranny tunnel making sliding difficult on JDM passenger side, drivers side is perfect fitment)
17. Recaro Pole Position ABE's with Griffiths seat bases. It was a very tight fit with only a slight touch on the drivers side (RHD)
18. Recaro Pole Position FIA with Griffins seat base
19: Recaro Pro Racer Han SPA
Will fit with modifications
1. Corbeau FX1 - fits with seat modification. Corbeau FX1 Install in FD
2. Sparco Evo 2 - - fits with seat modification.
3. Rx-8 seats (can be made to fit by modifying the racks)
4.Cobra Imola (with some minor triming of door side shoulder wing)
5. Sparco Torino 2 (modify the stock rails and get rid of the seat belt buckle they fit (barely))
6. Japanese knockoff of Sparco Pro Drive (shoulders hit the door and leg bolsters will probably rub on the console trim).
7. OMP HTE-R XL (halo would hit the window, both leg bolsters would need to be trimmed, shoulder bolsters seem to fit)
8. Cobra Suzuka Pro GT (only fits driver's side and only after trimming shoulder bolster and both leg bolsters. Non GT model needed for passenger side.)
9: Recaro SRD/Speed (using JP market seat mount/slider) Sliding is limited due to adjustment **** hitting rear panel (very tight fit near tunnel)
10: Evo X Recaro OEM seat (using oem Evo Slider and welding the Fd bracket) (very tight fit and limited adjustment)
Will NOT fit:
1. Sparco Fighter
2: Recaro Pro Racer Han SPA XL

These 'Planted' seat mounts were made without the seat belt tab....for racing harness only. Brand new, just used them a couple of months while the stock seats were being finished.

This thread seems to be completely FD. I have an FC Convertible. Does what fits in an FD fit in an FC?

Hi D4rw1n....never got an answer back, he must have sold the car. I didn't want to cut anything either. While I'm waiting for the stock seats to be red stitched I found a way to make the Braum Advan seats fit without any interior mods.
Reverse the seats, Drivers seat to the passenger side, passenger seat to drivers side, using the Planted seat mounts with the seat belt inner mount cut off or just order the mounts without the seat belt mounting tab, it has to come off because it hits the recline mechanism. If you don't go to a full harness system it'll be necessary to find a seat belt web receiver with a 10" reach that will mount to the stock inner bolt hole on the floor. The seats fit Ok, go all the way back, the doors close, shoulder clearance about 1/4", bottom seat bolsters 'just' touch the door. I'm almost 6ft, head clearance is about 1 1/2". The seats look good in the car, give the interior a more updated look.
I don't think there's any recline seat that's going to fit an FD correctly without sacrificing rearward travel and headroom.....unless it has the rear seat option, the rear seat side interior pieces are tapered at the bottom to allow easier access to the back. The stock seats are specially designed with the recline mechanism tapered in to clear the interior side moulding.
The Bride recline seat install pictures I've seen all have the rear seat option, the other pictures with different recline seats don't go all the way back, which is no problem if you're under 5'8". Sparco SPX series has a red stitch seat that may fit because the recline mechanism is in tighter and up higher....but the seats go for $3200 each...by the time you buy the mounts you'll be looking at $7000!
From the seat dimensions I can't see how the Evolution could fit any different than the Braum Advan.
If anyone out there has some good info on seats, please share it!

Guys, I'm sorry I never got back to you - I got my car back from the shop last week (after 2.5 years, don't ask). I've finally had a chance to drive it and test out the Corbeau Evolution seats (reclining).
The seats are on on Corbeu brackets I believe (link here https://corbeau.com/master-seat-brackets), which have the slide function. On the driver's side, the slide function is practically useless, there's at most an inch of travel. As has been mentioned, the reclining mechanism on the side prevents the seat from sliding all the way back (I'm pretty certain this is what's preventing more travel). There's easily 2inches of further travel, I imagine I'd have to trim the plastic (or maybe remove it as I don't want to hack up my interior). The lower bolsters fit fine. The shoulder bolsters are tight, I have to have the seat reclined past a certain angle for the door to close without rubbing.
Tomorrow I'm going to pull the drivers seat out to examine my options so I'll be happy to take lots of pics/measurements. I would say for someone under 6ft these would be a decent (and cheap) option, though you will have to have recline angle to shut the door easily. At my height I'm really struggling. Unless I can figure out a way to move them all the way flush with the bins I'm going to be looking at other seat options. My legs are too bent while resting on the pedals, and with a stock efini wheel there isn't much space at all.
Also for reference, I sat in a standard base FD w/sunroof and stock seats / wheel, and found that to be way more roomy than these seats in my R1.

I took the Bruam Advan seats out and sold them. The base seats came back cleaned and Red stitched, they look great! It's nice to have the head room back and lots of leg room! I've still got the 'Planted' seat mounts.....if anyone wants them, $220 shipped....or a fair offer!!

TL;DR Corbeau Evolution reclining seats, using Corbeau rails and brackets (links here and here) do fit, however do not slide flush to the bins and are only suitable for shorter drivers.
The seats are maxing out the space available but do clear the door if set back enough (or reclined). Reclining too far back hits the roof FYI.
I took the seats out and removed all rails/brackets, and test fitted them back into the car, and they fit snug, but perfectly against the bins. As it turns out, the restriction is in the slider mechanism, which does not slide back far enough. There is comfortably a 4"+ gap between the seat. The recline mechanism can fit without needing to trim any interior plastic, and there is space for the seat belt clip.
Unfortunately there is no alternative mount point on the Corbeau brackets so I tried modifying the sliders - to no avail. I found this old thread which alludes briefly to drilling out rivets which prevent the rails sliding further (stock rails) but it didn't work on the Corbeau rails.
My options at this point are:
1 - Try a new seat mount which would allow the rails to be mounted further back, negating the sliding restriction
2 - Source a set of OEM R1 seats
3 - Wait for the SBG group buy on Recaro PPs !?!
@Greg Sabol I may take you up on those Planted mounts! I'll send you PM
If I can get these seats mounted flush to the rear bins then I'll definitely keep them for the short/medium term. They're good looking seats at a really good price point, and I would just replace my Efini wheel with a smaller diameter one (looking at these gorgeous custom NB Miata wheels), to be really comfortable
Gap between seat and bin, with seat slid all the way back
Corbeau FD3 bracket
Slider all the way forward

Just wanted to post a brief update; after a week of frustration and bloodied fingers, I've finally managed to fit the Corbeau Evo (reclining) seat flush to the bin on the drivers side. I used the Corbeau supplied seat rails and bracket (per my previous post). I had to heavily modify the rails (hack them up good to allow them to slide all the way back). I also had to get creative with installing the seat belt clip.
With the seats all the way back and reclined, there are no clearance issues with the door, though the top of the seat is touching the roof (non sunroof model). The recline mechanism is in place and works (I had to remove the plastic covering of the recline mechanism), but I didn't have to cut up my interior plastics. There is literally no room left though it's that tight. At 6"3 I can now fit relatively comfortably, and I plan to get a smaller sized steering wheel to be totally comfortable. I don't plan on tracking/needing to use a helmet.
In summary, these seats will fit for shorter drivers (there will be 4-5inches of space between the back of the seats and bins), you can just buy the seats with rails and the corbeau mounts and have a plug and play solution for a pretty low price. Ultimately I've decided not to keep them long term, but I can at least live with them for now, until the SBG Recaro GB comes to fruition, which is likely the route I'll go!
@Greg Sabol Thanks for the info you sent me and the support to get this done! If anyone needs pics or more info, give me a shout. I'll be posting more to my build thread anyways.
And for completeness:
Will fit:
11: Corbeau Evo with recline - plug and play using Corbeau mounts/sliders for shorter drivers, but very tight fit. Taller than 5'10, will need serious mods to the rails or bespoke solution
Will NOT fit:
1. Sparco Fighter
2: Recaro Pro Racer Han SPA XL
3: Sparco Evo 2 US
With the seats all the way back and reclined, there are no clearance issues with the door, though the top of the seat is touching the roof (non sunroof model).
Will fit:
11: Corbeau Evo with recline - plug and play using Corbeau mounts/sliders for shorter drivers, but very tight fit. Taller than 5'10, will need serious mods to the rails or bespoke solution
Will NOT fit:
1. Sparco Fighter
2: Recaro Pro Racer Han SPA XL
3: Sparco Evo 2 US

I’m about a 33 inch waist, 6’ 0” tall, 180 lbs. For the most part the seats fit me well. The thigh cushion was a little over stuffed for my liking, so I cut about an inch of foam out of it. The cushion cover has a Velcro closure so this is easy to do. Also I feel like the shoulder bolsters curve forward a little more than I would like, but once your hands are on the wheel it’s not very noticeable. Maybe I just have broad shoulders?
